Raymond L. Witmer, 81

Raymond L. Witmer, 81, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at the Mennonite Home
He was the husband of Brenda L. Harrison Witmer, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage this past May 19th. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Lloyd B. and Ruth Herr Witmer.
Raymond was a West Lampeter High School graduate, and had worked as a buyer for the former New Holland Supply for 31 years. Following this, he had worked for CB Hoober Inc. for 15 years prior to his retirement.
An active member of Ascension Lutheran Church, he served as the treasurer for 31 years, served on church council and was an assisting minister.
He enjoyed all kinds of sports and was a Phillies and Eagles fan. He loved his family and was a patient and kind man.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Mark R. married to Barbara A. Witmer of Pennington, NJ and Karen L. married to Eric Hartman of Kutztown; his 4 grandchildren: Joshua, Kristin, Emily, and Hannah and by his 3 brothers: Daniel C. of Lancaster, David L. of Strasburg, and James M. of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his brother, Norman H. Witmer. He is also survived by aunts and many cousins.
Friends will be received on Monday, June 6, 2016 from 10-11AM at Ascension Lutheran Church, 600 E. Penn Grant Rd., Willow Street, PA 17584, with the Funeral Service to follow at 11AM. Interment will be in Conestoga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Raymond’s memory to Ascension Lutheran Church at the above address.

Goodbye for now dear Ray! You are much lived & missed. You were one of Ascension Lutheran Church’s ROCKS & you helped hold that foundation together! Much you did was behind the scenes & unknown by many but you held us together through thick & thin! Heaven rejoiced in welcome the day you left this world for your eternal home! You lived a life in service to GOD & his flock! Brenda I am so sorry for your loss, may GOD grant you PEACE! Judy Johnson

I would like to express my sympathy to the Witmer family on Ray’s passing.  I have many good memories of Ray while working with him many years ago at New Holland Supply Co.  Thoughts and Prayers are with you at this time!
