Raymond J. Lubbs, 82
Raymond J. Lubbs, 82, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at Brethren Village.
Born in Kent, Ill. He was the son of the late Rev. Frederick and Ada (Barber) Lubbs. He was the loving husband of Donna Rose (Fierheller) Lubbs. They celebrated 58 years of marriage on August 11th.
Mr. Lubbs served in the US Navy during WWII for two years. He was the owner of Volkshof, Inc. and The BAL Company, serving as a real estate developer and builder in Northern Illinois. Prior to his retirement he was a senior mortgage loan officer at JP Morgan Chase & Co. Mr. Lubbs was a long time member of the Rotary Club and National Association of Homebuilders. A long time resident of the Montgomery/Oswego, IL area, he served 11 years on the Oswego School Board, spending two of those as President. Raymond was a Charter Member of the Neighborhood Church of the Brethren. Always an active member, he served as Board Chairman, Sunday school teacher, and choir member. While living in Lancaster he attended Lancaster Church of the Brethren.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Daniel Lubbs, husband of Kris, of Roanoke, VA; Rayna, wife of Charles Schneider, of Frankfort, NY; and Bryant Lubbs, husband of Fran, of Wayne, PA; grandchildren, Kirsten Lubbs- Robinson, wife of Keith; Eowyn Lubbs- Hernandez, wife of David; Peter Lubbs; Paul Baker, husband of Michele; Dana Schneider, Megan Schneider, Anne Freund, and Nathan Lubbs; siblings, Charles Lubbs, husband of Dorothy; Clarence Lubbs, husband of Mary; Anna Marie Rouse, and Jessie Bennett. He was preceded in death by a sister, Inez Tillman.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday June 18, 2007 at the Brethren Village Chapel, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, Pa 17606, beginning at11AM. Friends will be received from 10AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Raymond’s memory to Brethren Village Good Samaritan Fund, Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, New York 10018, or to a charity of one’s choice.
