Phyllis Turner Ford Autry
On August 18, 2011, Phyllis Turner Ford Autry quietly passed away in her home surrounded by family members. She was an independent scholar and a faithful believer in Jesus Christ. The daughter of Mary E. and Thomas K. Turner, she is survived by five children (Christopher Ford, Misty Douglas, and Kim Ford of Dallas, TX; Peter Ford of Columbia, MD, and Chandra Ford of Los Angeles, CA); and, ten grandchildren (Shelby and Claudis Brown, Nyla and Michael Douglas, Christianna, Christopher, Jr., CaSara, Christalynn, Cameron and Jordan Ford); and three brothers (William, Arthur and Thomas).
She was born on November 1, 1949 in Americus, Georgia, reared in Fort Myers, FL, and later moved to Lancaster, PA where she completed her secondary education. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Art History/Psychology from Millersville University, a Master’s degree in Counseling from Boston University, and completed doctoral coursework at Penn State University and the University of Texas at Dallas. The spiritual matriarch of her family, she planted seeds of love, faith, and hope in God’s glorious return. She personified the scripture "God is love" (1 John 4:8). Phyllis, you are deeply loved and you will be greatly missed.
Friends will be received on Friday, August 26, 2011 from 11 AM to 1230PM at the Lancaster
Seventh Day Adventist Church, 151 City Mill Rd., Lancaster, PA, with Mrs. Autry’s Funeral
