Patricia G. Emmert, 78

October 17, 2022

Patricia G. Emmert, 78, formerly of Toms River, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 17, in Landisville, Pa., after a long battle with dementia. Pat was born in Staten Island, NY, and grew up in Middletown, NJ. She graduated from Ursinus College, where she met her husband, Ron. Pat began teaching English at Toms River High School South in 1965, returning to teach at High School North in 1978 after a ten year maternity leave. She retired as the high school English department supervisor in 2001. Well-respected by her colleagues and friends, Pat was always willing to lend a hand or offer an opinion. In retirement, she enjoyed gardening, reading, the Florida Keys in February, and spending lots of time with her grandchildren, whom she spoiled endlessly.

Pat was predeceased in 2014 by her loving husband of almost 49 years. She leaves behind her two daughters, Bonnie Herr and her husband Matt of Lititz, Pa., and Christy Downs and her husband Lee of Toms River. Her four grandchildren, Emma, Maggie, Catelyn, and Ryan, knew her as “Nana,” and they loved to shop, cook, play cards, eat ice cream, and attend Broadway shows together. Pat is also survived by her sister, Priscilla Senecal and her husband Dan, of Summerville, SC, and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation of family and friends will be held on Friday, October 21, at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St, Toms River, from 4:00PM-7:00PM. Immediately following visitation, there will be a brief celebration of Pat’s life.
