Patricia A. Schreck, 88

October 19, 2020

Patricia A. Schreck, 88, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Kathy Schober, on October 19th following a six month illness with Mantle Cell Lymphoma. Born in Lancaster, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ellen Sullivan Simpson and the wife of the late George R. Schreck, Jr who died in 1993. They had been married 40 years at the time of his passing.

Pat was a 67 year member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Lancaster. She attended Sacred Heart Academy, and was a 1949 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School. After retiring from homemaking, she worked at Evergreen Estates Retirement Community as a receptionist for fifteen years.

She enjoyed Duckpin bowling, card club and knitting with her neighborhood friends and cheering on Notre Dame and the Dallas Cowboys during football season. Making the perfect peanut butter eggs at Easter was a speciality of hers. Favorite family vacations were spent going to Hillside Lodge in Potter County, and she also enjoyed traveling with the girls to Hatteras, NC for many years. She will be remembered for her endless bowl of candy, which became a staple in her home.

Her family and friends were consistently touched by the love she displayed

to all. In her final days, her children provided her with the same loving care they learned from the example she set throughout her life.

Surviving are three daughters, Jean L. Lull, Mount Joy, Carolyn, wife of Richard Campbell, Chambersburg, and Kathleen M., wife of Robert P. Schober, Lancaster. One son, David M., husband of Rhonda, Holtwood. Condolences to the Family

The service was beautiful for your mom. She will hold a very special place in my heart and will be greatly missed. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the church when you all were talking about your mother. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

To the Schreck family,
The service for Pat was really nice, but sad. I especially enjoyed listening to what you had to say about her.  She was such a great person.  I remember when we were growing up, and we would spend time at Aunt Agnes’ and Uncle Georges’ or Grandmom’s and Grandpop’s or even at your home on Jamaica Rd.  We always had so much fun, and Pat was right there in the middle of it all.  My prayers go out to everyone of you, and I will offer Mass up to her on Sunday.
I was upset that I couldn’t talk to you and offer my condolences personally because of the COVID.

You have our sympathies concerning the loss of your mother Pat. She was a close friend of Jere’s mother and was very gracious to the Keen family. We appreciated the childcare given to our family by you three girls when our son was small. Blessings and warm memories to all of you and your families.

To the entire Schreck family – I am saddened to hear of your mother/grandmother’s passing, but heartened to know that she is in eternal rest with her Savior, family, and especially George – the love of her life. I have many memories of your mother and the grace and humility she lived her life, and she had the rarest trait a human could possess in that she never had an enemy in her long life. May she rest in peace, and may our good Lord bless you all.

Dear Carolyn, Kathy and Jean,
I was saddened to see of your mother’s passing. A flood of memories rushed to me. I was a good friend of your Uncle Lee. I remember you all as young gals visiting the Plum St relatives and Lee and I occasionally would stop by your home on Jamaica Rd.? Pat was always so welcoming and happy to see us. I remember her as such a positive person who really liked people and loved her kids. I noticed George passed away at such a young age. Sad. He too was jovial and fun to be with. I remember throwing footballs with him many times in the then vacant lot on Plum St.
You were all blessed with wonderful parents.
Blessings to you,
Rob (Robbie!) Reidenbach
