Patricia A. Cooke, 83
August 27, 2020
Patricia A. Cooke, 83, of Landisville, passed away on Thursday August 27, 2020 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Sophie Meckling Patchel. She was a long-time resident of Marple Newtown and most recently of Oak Leaf Manor North.
Patricia worked as a secretary at Conrail for 40 years, starting as a keypunch operator. She was known to be fun-loving, gregarious, and loved to make people laugh. Frequently, she would crack herself up before she finished telling her story. She loved her trips to the Jersey shore with friends and family to walk the boards, play the slot machines, and see the entertainment. She volunteered to serve Thanksgiving meals at her church each year. Patricia hosted two orphan girls to spend Christmases together with her two young daughters. She brought music into her home by playing her favorite Rat Pack albums and from the Wurlitzer organ that she provided for her daughters to play.
Most of all, Patricia dearly loved to spend time with her family and her poodle, Pucci. She took great pride in being Mom-mom and loved to visit her grandchildren throughout the year, especially at Christmastime.
Patricia will be missed by her two daughters; Linda Jeffries of Coconut Creek, FL, and Debbie Mextorf (Tom) of Lancaster; grandchildren Kimberly Calderwood (Bret) of Strasburg, Tracy Mextorf of Arlington, VA, and Ryan Mextorf (fiancé Emily) of Springfield, VA, and great-granddaughter Abigail Calderwood.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, is her brother Kenneth Patchel.
A family memorial gathering will be held at a future date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane League of Lancaster, 2195 Lincoln Hwy E., Lancaster, PA 17602.

Kindly accept my sincere thoughts of the loss of Patty…. Patty and I were friends for years, as we went to school to together. We met a few times for lunch, exchanged Christmas cards with notes, but I lost contact a few years ago. I knew her as Patchel & Cooke, had tried to reach her several times, but wasn’t able to locate her. We had “many” good times and “laughs” together. She had wonderful parents and am sorry to hear about her brother too.
