Ole M. Olsen
Ole M. Olsen, a native and resident of Norway until his seventh birthday, arrived in New Jersey in 1927 to begin a new life in Teaneck with his parents, Leonard and Olanda, and siblings; Lars, Erling, and later, Grace.
At age 18, he enlisted in the 99th Infantry Battalion Separate (Norwegian-American Ski Troops) of the United States Army and fought in the European theatre of World War II, during which time he received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat. Upon returning from the War, he took a job as a flooring salesman, eventually choosing it as his career. He met his wife, Ruth Morgan, in 1946, and together they raised two daughters, Jeanne and Janice, who went on to marry Roger Nokes and Kevin Henry, respectively.
In 1959, Ole opened his own flooring store, Ole Olsen Co., in Park Ridge, New Jersey, where his business operated successfully until his retirement in 1990. Ole grandfathered his daughter’s two children, Graham and Kimberly Olsen Henry, and spent his later years living close to his family in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
He was a lifetime member of Rotary International, the Veteran’s Association, and the Saints and Sinner’s Yacht Club of Port St. Lucie, Florida. Ole passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 21, in Lancaster. He was 90 years old. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, and his three siblings.
Private Services and Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Contributions in Ole’s memory can be made to the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603. Dear Jeanne & Janice:
I am so saddened to hear of the passing of your dear devoted father. Ole meant the world to me and through the years I have kept in contact with him. Usually a Christmas phone call. You were so blessed to have such beautiful parents and I will miss them too.
Love,
Lucille Adler, wife of Jules Adler. 7109 Breckenridge, Al. 36117
Craig and I would like to send our condolences to your family on the loss of your Dad. Gloria and Bud were very lucky to have your parents as such good friends for so many years. Craig and I always enjoyed seeing your Mom and Dad on our trips to the Cape.
Your Dad will be missed for sure but the happy memories of him will stay with you for your lifetime, which is the best thing in life our parents can do for us!
Craig and Denise Haenschen
Janice,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you with the loss of your Dad. Though we never met him, I always heard positively about him from you and Kevin. The loss is always hard but with 90 years of a full life, we hoping that you can move on quickly to the good memories and let his values and beliefs live on in you.

I was saddened to learn of the passing of OLE. I had the privilege of knowing and working with him for almost 30 years. He was one of the nicest people I had ever come across. Many people in the flooring business also held him in high regard. Sorry for your loss.
