Novilla M. Barnes, 97

Novilla M. Barnes, 97, of Lititz, PA, passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Moravian Manor.

She was the wife of the late Donald H. Barnes, who passed away in 1996. Born in Middleburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Novilla M. Downs Barnes.

Novilla had been a homemaker. She had been a longtime resident of Evergreen Estates.

A World War II veteran with the Womens Army Corps, she served in the Pacific Theater in the Philippine Liberation and New Guinea campaigns as Technician Third Grade.  She also served as a drill instructor and clerk, and it was, during her military service in the Phlilppines, that she met her future husband, Donald, while he was serving.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara married to Stavros Stavrinou of Lancaster; her 3 grandchildren: Donald married to Melissa Brosey, LaNae married to Pat Maalona, and Josh married to Sarah Gallegos; her 6 great grandchildren: Wyatt, Caleb, Brendon, Bryon, LeiLei , and Elena and by her brother John R. married to Hilda Allison of Surprise, AZ.  She is also survived by her son-in-law, Robert Gallegos. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Gallegos and her sisters: Ouida Allison, Gaizelle Allison, Nancy Iva Roberts, Laura Eloise Gatrell, Leola Graziani, Virginia Allison and Nadine Ludwig.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
