Nancy L. Chunko, 80

November 26, 2021

Nancy L. (Maurer) Chunko, 80, of Lancaster, passed away at Homestead Village on Friday, November 26, 2021.

Born on October 6, 1941 in a farmhouse on Fruitville Pike, Nancy was the daughter of the late Chester A. and Florence L. (Schopf) Maurer. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Clifford Maurer; and her sister, Winona Maurer.

Nancy resided in Lancaster County her entire life. She held positions at several iconic Lancaster businesses such as Cope’s Corn, Armstrong World Industries, Lancaster Newspapers and Rebmans. She worked as an Optician for Miller Optical Inc for over 20 years before her retirement. She was passionate about American Government and our Founding Fathers and loved discussing politics. She was an avid walker, a voracious reader, and an excellent cook of typical Pennsylvania Dutch cuisine. Over the years, she opened her home to countless stray animals and friends that her children brought through the door. Most of all, Nancy loved her family dearly and was most content sharing her love and kindness with her children and grandchildren.

Nancy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Steve Villella; her son Andrew Chunko; her grandchildren Evelina Villella, Riley Chunko, and Kendall Chunko; her sister, Shirley Barto; and nieces and nephews.

Condolences to the Family

Just finished watching the video tribute to Nancy and it was terrific–loved all the smiles. Nancy was the best friend anyone could ask for and she will be missed.  Because of health issues and Covid we could not attend her memorial service, but wish to extend our sympathies to the family. Be comforted that she is with Jesus and healed from all her frailities. Thank you for keeping us informed

We just finished watching the video tribute to Nancy and it was wonderful.  We took notice that there was a picture of her when she was my honor attendant at our wedding in 1967.  One could not ask for a better friend than Nancy, who always made me smile. Although I didn’t get to see her hardly at all the last few years, I will miss her more than words I can put in a tribute..

I know the best thing for you right now is lots of horses and being outside with nature. I’m ready to share the later with you any weekend!  Your Mom sounds a bit like you in that obituary my friend. I remember her with fondness. She did everything from her heart first. Much love and I’ll be there on Sunday to HUG YOU!

Jen and family. U guys are in my thoughts and prayers with the passing of Nancy. She was a great woman and I am so glad I had the chance to care for her at homestead. Then to come to find out you amhuys and nancy would come to see my mom at the Conestoga wagon and my mom would tell stories of nancy and evie eating. May god surround you with his presence during this difficult time and now Nancy isn’t suffering anymore.
