Nancy E. O’Conor, 56

May 02, 2018

Nancy E. O’Conor, 56, of Lancaster, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 2, 2018, after a two-year struggle with cancer. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Annabelle (Evans) Gingrich. Nancy was the loving wife of 26 years to Dr. G. Thomas O’Conor, Jr.
Nancy started caring for horses and playing polo when she was 14. She went on to manage the Lancaster Polo Club for many years, where she met her husband, Tom. She also cared for horses at their farm, and worked as a veterinary technician.
She raised her two children, Clarissa and Daniel, often planning elaborate birthday celebrations, Halloween parties, scavenger hunts and duct tape wallet-making parties for their friends and neighbors. Nancy also loved traveling with her family.
Later in life, Nancy was very active in the Lititz chapter of Art Goes to School, bringing art education to local elementary schools. She loved learning about artists and visiting museums when traveling with her family. She was a parishioner at Saint John Neumann Church, and a founding volunteer of Matthew 25 Thrift Shop in Lititz. Nancy also dedicated her time to a charity called Off The Streets, helping families experiencing homelessness move into housing.
Nancy always reminded her family before leaving the house to “have an attitude of gratitude.” She will be remembered for her zest for life and curiosity. In the words of a friend, Nancy had a way of making you feel like what you did was worth knowing about.
In addition to her husband, Tom, Nancy is survived by a daughter, Clarissa O’Conor; a son, Daniel O’Conor; a brother, Daniel Gingrich, husband of Laura, of Lancaster; and a sister, Barbara Singer, wife of David, of Lititz.
A viewing will be held from 7-9 PM on Monday, May 7, 2018 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543.
Viewing will continue from 10-11 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11 AM on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601 with Rev. Dan Powell as Celebrant. Nancy will be laid to rest at Landis Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Off The Streets-Lancaster PA, 601 E. Delp Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601 or to Art Goes To School, payable to AGTS of Delaware Valley, 424 Newtown Rd, Berwyn, PA 19312.

Dear Tom,
I was saddened to learn of the death of your dear wife, Nancy.  I offer you and your children my profound sympathy.  I vividly recall your words of consolation when my son Joe died.  Before that, I had not seen you for what seems like a lifetime.  I hope and pray that God will give you the comfort and consolation He has given me.  I will keep you and your children in my prayers.  Fondly, Nick Nastasi

Dear Nancy’s family,
i met Nancy through AGTS five years ago. I was in the program for only two years, but Nancy was my first mentor who allowed me to watch her presentation at Kissel Hill Elementary School. Nancy was wonderful with the children, and I fashioned my presentations after her examples.
I am deeply sorry for your loss. Nancy is a precious soul that will be greatly missed. I will continue to pray for all of you.
With much sympathy,
Julie Carlton

Dear Tom, Clarissa, and Daniel,
On my first evening in Jersey, after giving our grandaughter her bottle and thanking God for the preious gift of life, I found out that Nancy’s earthly life had passed and her heavenly, everlasting life with our Lord had begun. In the 5 years that I knew her, she became my friend, playmate, confidente, syncronsized coworker, walking partner, uplifter and “sister”. Although I did not tell her how much I loved her, I think she knew. I will miss her beautiful, kind, knowing, wise and loving spirit. Her love and concern for you and the kids was always primary in her mind. Please know that Jeff, Lee, and I are here if needed and will have you all in our ongoing prayers. May the peace of our Lord’s love live on in your hearts daily……Enrica, Jeff and Lee

Our thoughts to the family.  NAncy was once our babysitter for our now grown children.  She took themt polo on Sundays and made them stomp divits.  We have  known her whole family for years and will miss her.  Our thoughts and prayers to Tom, Clarrisa and Dan.  Nancy and her family were wonderful supporters of our local fire company and  Danny a valued member.  We will miss you.

I have known Nancy for many years through our love of horses! Several years ago when I had to put my horse down she helped me through the whole ordeal and even came to the barn to be with the vet so I did not have to be there. This same horse was a gift to me years before from their family and I enjoyed her all of those years! Such a sweetcaring person. Your family are in my thoughts and prayers! Cindy Seaton Herr

Nancy was a wonderful, nurturing mother who opened her home for her children and their friends. We had many years of Mock Trial practice in their basement, with Nancy ever the gracious host. Clarissa and Nancy took me on a wonderful garden visit, Clarissa honoring her mother. Daniel was her delight as well and her love for him was palpable. I will forever remember her as a devoted, loving, intelligent, giving, and wonderful human. She will be missed.
