Nancy B. O’Neill, 91

December 28, 2018

Nancy B. O’Neill, 91, of Lancaster, died Friday, December 28, 2018 after a brief illness with her family at her side.
Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Frances J. (Smith) Book. She was preceded in death by he husband, John, in 1981 and her brother, Charles Book, who passed in November. She is survived by her sister, Linda Brown, of Lancaster, and nieces and nephews Chuck Book (Helen), Sue Byorick, Donna Erdman (Mike), Ken Gebhard (Karen), Kathy Daminger (Mike), and Tracy Lare (Mike), as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Millersville University, Nancy taught school for a year, then was off to NYC to become a flight attendant. She began working for Eastern Airlines in 1950, where she met her future husband, pilot John O’ Neill. They later relocated to Florida, flying out of Miami. Nancy had many colorful stories about the early days of flying; she loved to tell them, and we loved to hear them.
After retiring in 1986, Nancy continued living half the year in Florida, moving back to Lancaster permanently in 2017. She loved traveling, and went on a number of cruises with her sister and family. She was a long time member of the Overlook 9-Hole Ladies Golf League, and in her later years, she enjoyed working part-time at the Toy Train Museum in Strasburg.
She was a member of Convenant United Methodist Church.
Nancy was known for her ability to live life to the fullest, and she will be sorely missed by many.
Friends will be received on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 10-11AM at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 N. George St., Millersville, PA , with the Funeral Service to follow at 11AM.
