Mildred K. Flood, 98

October 21, 2017

Mildred K. Flood, 98, of Willow Street, PA and formerly of Cherry Hill, NJ, and Garden City, NY, passed away at the Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster, PA, on Saturday, October 21, 2017, surrounded by her family.

She was born in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada to the late Reinhold and Bertha (Fullerton) Kurth. She celebrated 50 years of marriage with her late husband, James A. Flood, Jr., before his death in 1994.

Mildred had been a secretary for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in New York City before starting a family. She was a devoted wife and mother, her life centered on her family. Mildred had two lifetime hobbies, playing bridge, and reading the Wall Street Journal cover to cover, both of which she enjoyed well into her 90’s. She was one of the original members of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church in Cherry Hill, NJ, where she remained an active parishioner for over thirty years, until moving to Lancaster, PA.

Surviving Mildred are her daughter Kathy Drysdale, wife of Matt, of Hockessin, DE and their children: Brian Drysdale, husband of Heather, and their daughter Margaret Faith, of Wilmington, DE; Dave Drysdale, husband of Anne, and their son Patrick Gordon, of Jersey City, NJ; and Kristine Nichols, wife of Jason, of Hockessin, DE. Mildred was preceded in death by two loving sisters and two devoted brothers.

A viewing will take place from 10-11 AM, followed by Mass at 11 AM, on Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Church of the Assumption Chapel, 76 Evergreen Road, New Egypt, NJ 08533. Interment in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ will follow.

Condolences to the Family

October 27, 2017

Kathy – I did not know that you lost your mom until you sent me a facebook invite. I am so, so, sorry. So many memories of our childhood on Long Island and the friendship between our mothers. The irony of this is that in looking at the date, your mom left us exactly 31 years to the day that my mom left, October 21, 1986. Good friends; same day – simply amazing.
always,
Trudy Avery
