Maryanne was aPort Carbon gal, raised with loving parents, and a bundle of loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in what is known as “The Coal Region” in Northeastern PA!  Many family gatherings were spent in the various towns there…Port Carbon, Girardville and Pottsville!
She was privileged to live in this wonderful area where people knew and cared about each other, embraced all ethnic populations, all of which made her the person she became in adulthood!  She had a deep faith, which allowed her to see the good in every one and care about everyone!
John and I remember good times at her home in anyone Harbor, NJ, where a “gaggle of Cantwell’s” would gather to eat, drink, and be merry…along with much singing!!!
She also shared her birthday with John’s brother, Jim, and that made their relationship special!
Maryanne…may you be reunited with all those people who have gone before and have the best gathering of all!
We will miss you!

Miss Cantwell was an amazing teacher and a true asset to Rohrerstown Elem…we had the best field days and of course the Golden Sneaker award.  I was lucky enough that Miss Cantwell was also a resident in our neighborhood…she was a fixture walking her dog, you knew you always could count on a smile and a wave as she walked by.  She will be greatly missed

I will be forever grateful for the warm welcome Maryanne extended to me when I joined the faculty at Rohrerstown Elementary. We had worked together 15 years earlier at Mountville.  Teaching in a room close to her gym, I could hear music and cheering.  Ths students always had so much fun.

Miss Cantwell was my gym teacher at Farmdale elementary school. She persuaded me to join the soccer league as the first girl from Hempfield school district. She always pushed me to be a stronger sprinter and better athlete. I have thought about her often over these many years since then. My prayers for your family through this difficult time.

Maryanne was a kind and friendly neighbor who we would see on her daily early morning walks with Duffy. She often brought the neighborhood together with a summer time gathering at her home where we would bring donations for the food bank. Maryanne was a kind soul who will be missed.
