Mary Lou DiFelice, 61

April 06, 2016

Mary Lou DiFelice 61, of Lancaster, PA passed away peacefully and surrounded by her loving family on April 6, 2016 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Kingston, PA she was the daughter of the late Richard I. Williams and Mary (Winter) Williams. In addition to her loving husband Louis (they just celebrated their 33rd year of marriage on February 19) , Mary Lou is survived by her two children, Sara Alleman wife of Justin, Ephrata, PA, Ryan DiFelice, Lancaster, her grandson, Tanner and baby Alleman to be born in early November. Also surviving are her sister, Deborah W. Havert, Chesterbrook, PA, step brothers Billy and Don Shepard, aunt Jane and uncle Bobby Austin, as well as in-laws, nieces and nephews that meant the world to her.

Growing up in Manor Township, she was a graduate of Penn Manor High School in 1972 and went on to Millersville State College graduating in 1976 with a degree in Psychology. Mary Lou was a member of the Millersville University Varsity cheerleading squad.

Mary Lou was an Account Executive with American Greetings for 39 years. Her work ethic, commitment to the company, her colleagues and clients gave her great personal satisfaction as evidenced by the accolades she received and the friendships that endured over her career. Mary Lou received numerous awards over her career and this past year she received the Lifetime Achievement Award

Mary Lou was an avid reader and book club member. She enjoyed walking, baking and great friendships. She was also involved through her work with the Children’s Miracle Network, fundraising and organizing activities on their behalf to benefit the cause. She loved a challenge as exhibited by her eagerness to help a friend, offer support or solve a problem in personal relationships or her work environment. What will be missed most about Mary Lou is her positive outlook, sense of humor, contagious laugh and chocolate chip cookies. Her two greatest roles in life were Mother and Mimi.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service for Mary Lou on Monday evening April 11, 2016 at 7pm from the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory 3110 Lititz Pk. Lititz, PA 17543. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5-7pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary Lou’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater PA Chapter, 2595 Interstate Dr., Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

Condolences to the Family

April 14, 2016

I was so saddened to hear of Mary Lou’s passing. I have had the pleasure of working with Mary Lou from the beginning of my career at American Greetings. She was a pleasure to work with and I will miss her dearly. I thoroughly enjoyed the times I was able to work with her and see her “in action” when she visited Boston. I will miss our chats and the endless knowledge she shared with me spanning her time with AG. She was truly a shining force within American Greetings and I am honored to have worked with her. My thoughts and prayers go out to the DiFelice family.

I have had many interactions with Mary Lou over her career at American Greetings.  Can’t say enough about the shining light of our sales force from those of us old timers in the Marketing department.  She was a wonderful person to work with and imagine even a more gracious and fun loving Mom, Grandmother and Wife.  My sincere sympathy to all of you and you will be in my thoughts.

Lou, Sarah, and Ryan,
A wave of sadness covered me when I read about Mary Lou’s passing. I have many fond memories of her and I sitting on the bleachers at Golden Meadows indoor pool while Brianna and Sarah took swimming lessons.  Then later in life, Lionel & I sat with you both to watch Nick and Ryan at Hempfield Track meets.  Mary Lou’s kind heart and bright smile will be missed by many.  We still use the “Birthday Bear” flag she gave us every year to celebrate family birthdays and I always think of her when I hang it.  Please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Most sincerely, Audrey & Lionel Grasso

Dear Louis and family,
My sincere sympathy for you and your family. Mary Lou was a very special person and a dear friend. Always a positive attitude a smile and geniune concern for all those she touched. I was fortunate to see her a few months ago; Mike Colant threw an impromptu dinner for some of the longtimers, when they were in for their meeting. She was so full of energy and we had a great evening of memories and laughter. I will remember her as she was that night, which is how she lived her life. Hope she knew how much she was loved by all! Such a tragic loss. Our hearts are heavy.
Mike and I were trying to work out driving in today and sorry things didn’t work out, I feel terrible we are not there.
thinking of you and yours

We are Mary Lou’s cousins from Wales. We very much share in your sadness and the great loss you have suffered, the loss of a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. I first actually met Mary Lou and Debbie,Dick and Mary Easter 1966 when my mother and I flew to the States on quite an adventure to meet our American relatives, staying with Aunt Jane,Uncle Bobby and family.Mary Lou and Robbie Austin, her cousin flew to Britain as 18year olds to visit their Welsh relatives in 1972! As a 26 year old I seemed to have been their tour guide in London,Stratford upon Avon and finally to Wales! The next time we met up was on our visit to your side of the ‘pond’ the summer of 1989 and again more recently October 2014. We had such hopes that once retired Mary Lou would once again visit “The Land of my Fathers” where she would have received such a warm welcome. We have read her obituary online and learnt so much more about her and we are so proud to be able to say we are her cousins. Our heartfelt sympathy to the whole family, may your memories of Mary Lou bring you some comfort in time.
