Mary Helen “Peanut” Lambert, 85

September 10, 2024

Mary Helen “Peanut” (Shope) Lambert, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. Born in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Maxine M. (Koch) and William H. Shope. She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel D. Lambert, Sr., with whom she shared over 54 years of marriage.

Mary was a devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Millersville and a previous long term member of Messiah Lutheran Church in South Williamsport where she was active in the church choirs and served in other ministries. Mary graduated with honors from South Williamsport High School. Mary retired from AT&T where she was employed as an Operator.

An avid swimmer, golfer and accomplished bowler; she embraced life with enthusiasm and a strong faith. Her faith was essential to her life, and she set a strong example for her children and family, building a foundation of love and strength that has been passed down through generations. Mary lived her life rooted in love, faith, and the strength of family. She always led by example, teaching her children the values of compassion, integrity, and perseverance. Her life was a testament to the importance of family unity, even in challenging times. Mary believed that no matter the obstacles, love could overcome anything, and she demonstrated this belief in the way she cared for her loved ones. She was known for her unwavering support and wise counsel whenever her family needed it.

Mary’s memory lives on in her children: Daniel D. Lambert, Jr. of Williamsport, PA, Sherry L. Fischer, wife of Matthew, of Elizabethtown, PA, and Darrin L. Lambert, husband of Pamela, of Willow Street. She was a proud grandmother to Joshua D. Fischer, husband of Andrea; Eric D. Lambert, husband of Jamie; and Leo J. Lambert. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Autumn E. Fischer, Stella R. Fischer, Benjamin D. Lambert, and one on the way. She is also survived by her sister Marian “Mimi” Johnston of Williamsport.

In addition to her husband, Daniel, she was preceded in death by her sister Virginia “Ginny” Bower.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Millersville, 222 N. George Street, Millersville, PA 17551. Family and friends are invited to gather from 10 AM until the time of service. Interment will take place privately at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, address above.

Her example of unconditional love, kindness, and resilience will forever remain in the hearts of her loved ones, serving as a testament to a life well-lived.
