Dear Dave, Jennie, and Kate –

It is a tribute to Chris and the love she shared with her family and friends that so many people have been touched by your loss and share in your sadness. We hope you will take comfort in the fact that Chris was so well-liked and loved by so many. We know she was so proud of the daughters that she raised so well. We hope the many good memories you have of your wife and mother will sustain you during this sad time. Don’t be afraid to reach out if you need some help – there are many friends and neighbors, including us, who want to do whatever we can. We will hold you close in our hearts and in our prayers!

To Jennie Lee and the Haines family,

My deepest sympathies to all of you. I did not know Mary, but it has been my pleasure to know one of her daughters, Jennie Lee, for the past 4 years. One measure of a life well-lived is what one contributes to the next generation. With Jennie Lee, Mary Chris contributed a treasure; surely a testimony to the life that Mary lived. Rest in peace.

It is hard to find words of comfort at a time of loss. Only time can heal that sorrow.
