Mary Agnes Bernhardt, 97

Mary Agnes (Vallilee) Bernhardt, 97, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Lancaster Regional Hospital.

Born in South Waverly, she was the wife of the late Rudolph W. Bernhardt, and the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Kathryn B. (Meehan) Vallilee.

Agnes was active with Willow Street Senior Citizens and the Bob Rudisill Senior Citizen’s Bowling League.  She worked for many years as the office manager for the O’Brien Inn in Waverly, NY.

She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

Agnes loved cats, and always had a rescued cat as a pet.  She loved her family and friends, and loved to entertain.  She will be sadly missed by them and her caregivers.

She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by four brothers: Robert, Charles, Raymond, and Bernard Vallilee and two sisters:  Veronica Maloney and Margaret E. Armstrong.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 10, 2012 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster with The Rev. Daniel Mitzel officiating.  The family will receive friends from 9:45 to 10:45 prior to the service at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA.  Burial will be private.

Aunt Agnes was my Godmother. She was a lively and good women, whose company I enjoyed at her home in Lancaster many times. My condolences to all who knew her and will miss her too.
