Martin Victor Leonard Hale, 65

Martin Victor Leonard Hale, 65, of Lititz, PA, died Monday, December 18, 2006 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Lancaster County, PA.

Born December 1, 1941 in Inverness, Scotland, Martin was the son of Alexandra (Wilkie) Burmeister of Haddon Heights, NJ, and the late Sgt. Leonard Arthur George Hale of the Royal Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Lisa M. Kittner

Martin was a graduate of Haddon Heights High School and Glassboro State College, both in New Jersey.  Martin worked as an English and History teacher at the high school level in Millville, NJ, for approximately three years. He then accepted appointment as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in February of 1967. Martin worked as a Special Agent and was later promoted to Supervisory Special Agent, Assistant Special Agent in Charge, Inspector-In-Charge, and Deputy Director.

Martin worked in the Indianapolis, Cleveland, and Portland Field Offices, as well as FBI Headquarters in Washington, DC. In the later part of his FBI career, Martin was very involved in international affairs and liaison, and did extensive work overseas. Martin retired from the FBI after 31 years of service. Following retirement, he worked as a consultant for various private and government agencies both within the U.S. and abroad.

In addition to his wife and mother, Martin is survived by three sons: M. Kevin Hale, Keith A. Hale, and Jeffrey S. Hale; a daughter, Robin A., wife of Larry Redmond; a brother, Raymond, husband of Dee Hale; and a sister, Madelaine, married to Chris Smith.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 119 S. Prince Street, Lancaster, PA 17603 on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 2:00 p.m.  Private interment will be at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Martin’s memory may be made to Sisters of the Perpetual Rosary, 1834 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601; to San Juan Bautista Education Fund, Attn: Father Wolfe, 425 S. Duke St., Lancaster, PA 17602; or to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.

I was not aware that Marty passed away, so sorry for your loss. Marty was my mentor at the Cleveland FBI Field office. He was not only a true friend but a consummate professional in every respect. Again very sorry to learn of his passing.
