Marianne (Banach) Bellamy, 80, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Hammondsport, New York, passed away January 2, 2014, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of Peter K. Bellamy with whom she shared 51 wonderful years of marriage. Marianne was born January 23, 1933, in Bristol, Connecticut, and was the daughter of the late Teofil P. and Karolina (Jadlowska) Banach.

Marianne was the mother of Susan Bellamy Loretan, married to Dr. William D. Loretan, of Ephrata, PA, and Peter K. Bellamy Jr., married to Kimberly Robinson, of Cambridge, NY. She was the proud grandmother of two beautiful granddaughters, Karoline Bellamy Loretan and Rachael Katherine Loretan.

Marianne had a passion for dance and the theatre. A charter member of the Hartford Ballet Company, she taught ballet and modern dance to students in Connecticut and Pennsylvania, danced in televised performances with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, performed on stage in Connecticut and Pennsylvania, and appeared in musical productions at the Fulton Opera House and Franklin & Marshall College.

For 20 years, Marianne worked as the administrative assistant to the Vice President of Franklin & Marshall College. An original member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, she also became a member of the St. Leo’s Women’s Club and enjoyed spending time at the Lancaster Liederkranz. After her retirement, Marianne was an enthusiastic volunteer at the Curtiss Museum and St. Gabriel’s Church in Hammondsport, New York.

A lifelong athlete, Marianne loved playing tennis, skiing, biking, gardening, and spending time outdoors. She and her husband traveled extensively and enjoyed entertaining at their homes in Lancaster and on Keuka Lake.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. Interment will be held privately at St. Joseph’s New Catholic Cemetery in Lancaster. Dear Peter and Family,  I’m so sorry we were unable to attend the funeral Mass for Marianne due to the extreme untimely severe  weather conditions.  It was a pleasure to know you both through St. Leo’s “LAMBS” senior lunch group.  Thank you for your hospitality and friendship.  May God bless you all as you struggle to adjust to the loss of Marianne, your wife, mother, grandmother.     With love and prayers,  Nancy and George Simon

To Marianne’s family,
I am so sorry for your loss.  I was fortunate to know Marianne during my years at F&M.  She was a very generous and sincere person.  I appreciated her allowing my family to stay at her beautiful lake house.
Peace,

TO SUSAN, PETER, BILL AND CHILDREN:  How much she loved life!  I thorougly enjoyed knowing her while I was a member of the Idlehurst community here on Keuka Lake.  Her party-giving talents were always appreciated and I still hear her “woo-woo” at the end of any enthusiastic moment.  You all have a great deal to be thankful for.

Dear Peter,
We are sorry for your loss…..and extend our deepest sympathy to you and your family.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.  Marianne always had a sense of humor and I appreciated her input when I was a new employee at F&M and through our association.
May her memory be eternal and everlasting.
Sincerely,  Mary Jane and Arthur Pavlatos
