Marguerite Anne Evans, 88

Marguerite Anne Evans, 88, of Millersville, passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 with her family by her side after a courageous 5 –year struggle with dementia. She was the wife of Richard James Evans, Sr., with whom she was married for 59 years. Richard passed away in 2008.

Born December 10, 1929, “Peggy” as she was known to her family and friends, was the daughter of Marguerite A. (Connor) and Leo P. Morgan.

Peggy was a 1947 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School. She was a member of St. Philips the Apostle Catholic Church where she participated in Guys and Dolls and AARP organizations. Peggy worked at Armstrong World Industries as a clerk.

Peggy was a loving wife and a great mom. She loved dancing and traveling with her husband, reading, gardening, family gatherings, pets, and she adored babies! She enjoyed family vacations at the south Jersey beaches with her family and excursions to Atlantic City with her husband, Dick.

Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen M. Evans married to Markham Gates of San Diego, CA, and Julie A. married to Bruce Rhine of Akron, PA., and one son, Richard J. Evans, Jr. married to Susan (Brian) of Lancaster; two grandchildren, Nathaniel Rhine engaged to Cristie M. Happekotte, of Bellefonte, PA, Gail C. (Wiker) Funk, married to Jason Funk of Conestoga, PA; and three great grandchildren, Kali and Jay Funk, and Julianne Rhine. Peggy was also survived by one brother, James Morgan, and two sisters, Barbara Krammes and Jeanne Cope, all of Lancaster. She was preceded in death by a brother, Leo Morgan.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Lancaster.
