Condolences to the Family

June 13, 2019

I worked with Peg at the Wilmington Dry Goods store when it first opened at the East Town Mall in 1974.  She had a small apartment on E. Orange back then and we would listen to records and relax after work – Bad Company, Paul McCartney & Wings, etc.  We had so much fun that summer hanging out and going to the NJ shore.  We lost touch when I left for college.  I stumbled on this page while googling my old friend, having no idea she was gone.  Rest in peace my friend.  I will never forget you.

So sorry to hear of the tragic loss. Many happy memories. May she rest in peace forever more.
John Matthew

I have been privileged to have known such a wonderful person. I do not believe I will meet anyone like Anne again. I dearly appreciate the hours we have spent having coffee in her kitchen while her grandson and my daughter did home work in her living room. I will remember the walks we took together, and the crochet gifts that she made by hand for me. She always had a kind word for everyone and good advice when asked for it. I have lost a dear friend. I know that she is in heaven looking upon us with the love she carries in her heart for all. I know that she will be in my heart always. Rest in peace dear friend till we meet again.

To the Kieley Family,
I have fond memories of my good high school friend, Peg.  We shared many happy times together and I had a lot of fun spending time on the farm with her and enjoying our high school days together.  I have not kept in touch with her over the years, but will never forget the fun we had together and her big smile and hearty laugh.  My condolences go out to the family and hope that she will be at peace in heaven.

I am very saddened by Peg’s passing.  Peg was a beautiful person and a dear friend.  Although we lost touch over the years, I still think of her and all of you often.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.

About a week or two ago, my 9 year old son Paul and I were discussing some of his upcoming plans; plans that caused wonderful childhood memories to come rushing back into my head.  This particular memory took place on the Kieley farm during one of my pre-planned Saturday play dates with my childhood classmate and friend, Paul Kieley.  On Tuesday morning when I read about a fire on Marticville Rd. I had to pause for a second or two to think of where Marticville Rd was and then the thought came, "that is where the Kieley’s lived."  Later that day I heard the name on news on the radio and was stunned and very sad.  The recent pleasant thoughts made that news all the more sad.
As a grade school kid I remember riding the school bus with some of the big high school kids.  One of them was Leenie who was ALWAYS very nice and very kind to this grade schooler.  She was always one of my favorite "big kids."  And then, of course, I remember the Kieley family taking up a whole pew, every Sunday, at 9:30 mass at St. Mary’s.  What a beautiful legacy!  I really wanted to pay my respects in person at church, but my daily commute to York in the snowy weather made that difficult.
Words cannot express the sorrow that I feel for all of you.  You’ve lost so much.  Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

To the Kieley family, I met Peg about 12 years ago at the Martic Forge Hotel. If there was a band there and she was there, I knew I had a great dance partner. I never knew her last name at the time, I just knew she went by Eileen or Peg. Ever since the Hotels been gone, she would pop into my thoughts now and then. I often wondered what she was up to, and wished I could have stayed in contact with her. And then to see her obit. in the paper. I can’t imagine your grief. She was a truly  wonderful person, as beautiful on the inside as she was outside. I’m glad I had the privilege to know her, even as short as it was. Truly sorry for your loss.

Dear Sue, Terry and family,
My thoughts are with you girls and your family at this most difficult time.  There are no words to express how sorry I am for your loss.
Sincerely,
Sue Hiltz and Family

Dear Sue,
We were very sorry to hear of your tragic loss.  We hold you and your family in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
Fondly,
Karen and Rick Phillips

We have been neighbors of Peg’s for about seven years.  She has always been so kind to our family.  When my son was younger, she shared some of her children’s videos with him and would invite us for lemonade.  He told her she was as beautiful as a princess.  Every time I talked with Peg, she shared memories of her childhood growing up at her home.  She enjoyed sledding down the hill and was recently sharing these experiences with us while helping to shovel our driveway.  She also enjoyed talking about the deer that roamed about.  She was a lover of animals!
We are deeply saddened to lose such a dear person in our lives.  There is no doubt many others too will miss Peg.  –

Terry Matthew my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in this time of sadness. Please let me know if there is anything that you need and remember that your sister is in Gods hands now.
Paul H. Kreider

I have always treasured days at the farm. "Leeny" teaching me to ride the pony and chores on the farm. Peg went on beach vacations with my family and she was the best at having fun. We were so close so long ago, yet she has been and will be a huge part of happy memories. Many of them were at LCHS. My most sincere sympathy to all the family. May you all find comfort at every turn.
