Mabel “Christine” Spinks, 89

October 1, 1929 - June 27, 2019

Our beloved mother Mabel “Christine” Bauman Spinks suddenly joined our Lord in Glory on June 27, 2019. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, George W. Spinks.
As a longtime resident of Jensen Beach, Florida she was an active member of Morningside Church in Port St. Lucie and a member of the Jensen Beach Garden Club. She was born in Sharon, CT. Then eventually she moved to Miami Florida, with her siblings Gerald Bauman, Nancy (Bauman) Marks, Betsy (Bauman) Purnell. She graduated from Miami High School in 1947.
Chris’s summers were spent in Blowing Rock, North Carolina while George was alive. Then she enjoyed returning to New Jersey for summer family reunions. She loved singing, gardening, songwriting and writing poetry for which she won awards.
As a credit specialist for Sears she retired as a valued employee with administrative gifts. She courageously traveled in her golden years to Israel, Turkey, Greece, Hawaii, and Alaska. Her inside and outward beauty, generosity, love of the LORD and life were appreciated by many.
She is survived by her four children with first husband, Ernest H. Ryder, Jr: Ernest H. Ryder III (Stasha), Deborah A. Macy (Edgar), Robert W. Ryder (Deborah) and Valerie L. Engelman. Christine loved George’s children, “Buddy”, Donna & Kathleen and their children as her own. Her beloved grandchildren are John R. Knox (Sharon), Leslie Ryder-Jett, Ernest H. Ryder IV (Tanya), Sean L. Corbin (Kathryn), Paul J. Corbin (Rachel), Jerome Sheldon, Rebecca Connor (Nate), Danielle Shields (Tim), Naomi Malham (Corey), Henry Paul Ryder. She was blessed to enjoy her great-grandchildren: Christian Knox, Dustin Knox Sanchez, Cherish, Hannah, Danielle, Lynnlee, and Pauly Corbin and Noah Kubitcz, Cory & Javon Jett, Brianna & Brayden Ryder, Baron & Bishop Malham, Elaine Shields. Grandchildren by marriage: Jacob & Elijah Hawkins. Recently she traveled to New Jersey and held her great-great-grandson, Cory Jett.
She was looking forward to celebrating her 90th birthday with all her family in NJ. “Grandma Chris” will be dearly missed by all her family. We are looking forward to greeting her again in Heaven, where she knew eternal life through Jesus Christ, her Savior.
Services will be held Sunday, July 14, 2019, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at Morningside Church, 2180 SE Morningside Blvd. Port St. Lucie, Florida 34952. Burial will take place Sunday, July 28, 2019 at 2:00 PM in Longenecker’s Reformed Mennonite Cemetery, 604 Strasburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17602.
