M. Ramona Maldonado, 84

M. Ramona Maldonado, 84, of Denver, PA died at Reading Hospital on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, following a brief illness.  Born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Virgilio Rivera and Maria Gonzalez.

She was married to the late Jose Maldonado who passed away on April 27, 1986.

She was a homemaker and had previously worked as a seamstress at Shirley’s Manufacturing.

Ramona was a parishioner of San Juan Bautista Catholic Church and was also a member of the Legion of Mary.  She enjoyed playing dominoes and gardening as well as faithfully praying the rosary and reading the Bible.  Her most favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family and visit with her friends.

Surviving are 11 sons: Juan of Sarasota, FL; Oscar L. of Adjuntas, PR; Cesar and Ildefonso of Ponce, PR, Fernando of Valley Stream, NY, Carlos M. of Akron, PA, Jose R., Ruben, Isaias, Gerardo, and Luis A. all of Lancaster; 5 daughters: Benedicta Fair and Maria Maldonado, both of Lititz, Liduvina Maldonado of Denver, PA, Teresa Zapata and Catalina Zapata both of Akron.  In addition to her children, she is survived by her sister, Lydia Rivera of Bronx, NY.  She will be lovingly missed by her 47 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren who call her Abuelita Moncha.

A Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Fr. Allan Wolfe, will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 11am at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church 425 South Duke St. Lancaster, PA 17602.  Family and friends may attend the viewing at San Juan Bautista on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 from 6-9 pm and again at the church Thursday morning from 9-11 am.  Interment at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery will follow the Mass.  Please omit flowers; memorials in Ramona’s memory may be made to the Church or charity of your choice.  To send an online condolence please visit SnyderFuneralHome.com.
