Louise H. Newswanger, 96

Louise H. Newswanger, 96, of Lancaster, PA passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the Mennonite Home. She was the wife of the late Richard “Dick” Newswanger to whom she was married for 56 years at the time of his death in 1999.

Born in Lancaster she was a daughter of the late Charles G. and Rebecca (Herschberger) Harclerode. Louise was a graduate of Stevens High School and the Lancaster Business College. She was a homemaker, longtime member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Lancaster, Conestoga Country Club and the Towne Club. Louise loved to play bridge, enjoyed the beach, sewing and traveling with her sister Miriam to Elderhostel. During the 1940’s Louise was an executive secretary with Armstrong World Industries. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children David E. Newswanger (Craig Kochersberger) of Santa Cruz, CA, Christine N. Corbin (Bill) of Richmond, VA and John R. Newswanger of Lancaster, PA; three grandchildren Matthew S. Corbin (Catherine) of Chicago, Ill, Elizabeth A. Corbin (Dr. Gordon Pace) of New Haven, CT; Alan Rozetar (Suzy Simonelli) of Lancaster, PA; two great-grandchildren Isaac Samuel Pace and Gregory Lawson Pace; one brother C. Kenneth Harclerode (Helen) of New Holland, PA; various nieces and nephews. Louise was preceded in death a brother James Robert Harclerode and a sister Miriam H. Kepner of Tucson, AZ whom she was preceded by 2 weeks.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 11:00AM from the Chapel of the Mennonite Home, 1520 Harrisburg Pike Lancaster, PA 17601. Interment will be held privately. A visitation will be held from 10:30AM until the time of the Memorial Service.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the National Wildlife Federation, P.O. Box 1583 Merrifield, VA 22116 in her memory.
