Louis J. Vannicolo, Jr., 84

Louis John Vannicolo Jr. 84, of Lancaster, PA passed away Sunday July 1, 2018 at the Hermitage Rehabilitation Facility in Hermitage MO. He was born on July 6, 1933 in Havertown, PA to Luigi and Rosa (Fanticoni) Vannicolo. After graduating high school he served in the US Army’s 24th Infantry Division during the Korean War and was honorably discharged at the rank of sergeant in 1955.
After serving his country he went on to become a private investigator, an owner of several gas stations, performed maintenance for the University of PA and finally owned and operated his own business doing concrete work. Along the way he married Louise Nardi and together they raised 3 children in Havertown. He retired in 1983, built a farm home in Spout Springs, VA where he lived for 20 years until moving to Lancaster, PA to be with family.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Louise Jane (Nardi), two sons, Louis J. of Downingtown, PA and Michael J. of Preston, MO, two brothers Francis Vannicolo of Newtown Square, PA and Nick (Carmen) Vannicolo of Downingtown, PA and two sisters Natalie Terragrossa of Massapequa, NY and Josie Kelso of Newtown Square, PA. He has 8 grandchildren and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his daughter Marie A. Steinmetz of Newtown Square, PA.
A Viewing is scheduled from 9 to 10:45am on Monday, July 9, 2018 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2427 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17601 with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11am. Interment with military honors will be at St Joseph’s New Catholic Cemetery, 70 Charles Rd., Bausman, PA. Flowers may be sent to St Leo the Great.
