Lawrence J. “Larry” Ansted, 70, passed away at his home on May 21, 2022, with his loving family by his side. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles R. and Frances (Godina) Ansted. He was married 43 years to Jacquelyn (Hostetter) Ansted.

Larry was a graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School, class of 1970, and went on to attend York College and Goldey-Beacom College. Through high school and college, he played basketball and in adulthood he coached Penn Manor High School basketball from ’94-’97. He dedicated over 25 years to the United States Postal Service until his retirement.

A long-time parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Larry served as an usher and was a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus. Those that knew Larry, knew he was a loyal Notre Dame football fan. He loved taking yearly trips with his family to Rehoboth Beach in addition to traveling to New Orleans and Ocean View, DE. He enjoyed golf, bowling, and playing cards at the Hostetter’s Sunday night gatherings.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Jackie; children: Jacob Ansted, husband of Pamela Fischer, of Millersville and Lauren, wife of Zachary Klipa of Lititz; and the grandchildren who affectionately called him Pappy: Emily and Easton Ansted and Claire Klipa. He was preceded in death by his sister, Letitia Kline.

Jackie and family, please accept my sincerest condolences in Larry’s passing. I worked with him at the Post office and he always brought joy and laughter wherever he was. Larry would not allow anyone to have a bad day and somehow found funny in every day at work. It was a privilege to know him.

May 25, 2022

My thoughts and prayers are with you Jackie and family. Larry could make anyone, and everyone laugh in seconds. Larry’s energetic personality put everyone in a positive mood. Truly one of a kind. Unique, passionate, caring, sharing, fun to be with at all times. So many positive words and memories to share when reflecting on Life in general with Larry.
A fun and great guy to be with always. So talented. Even played the drums at my parents home back in the day. A Basketball Legend. Let’s face it…Larry was great at just about everything. They say an Angel gets his wings when you hear a Bell ring. The bells, or any bell ringing from this point forward simply means Larry just got his wings!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot be there in person due to my current physical status, however, I am with you all the way in prayer and thought. Thanks for the memories Larry. Enjoy sports in Heaven my friend. I know you will make them laugh. Just be careful with flying around on those wings, Sir Bromad.

Larry Ansted . . . What a guy! I met Larry on the basketball court at 6th Ward Park.  He was a star both on and off the court. Fun followed Larry whereever he went.  I remember going to a party with him back in the day with a few bottles of MD20/20.  For years after that, we referred to each other as Mad Dog.  He complemented Jackie and she him and they raised a beautiful family . . . That was how Larry rolled. I’ll always remember him too as a fellow postal employee and how we would commiserate when we saw each other. Larry, my friend, you will be missed. My biggest regret is not getting down to visit with you here in the later years. I know that Heaven rejoiced when you walked through the Gates. I’m sure with some others you’re having some great Bball up there.  Rest easy my friend. Prayers for Jackie, Jake, and Lauren!!

My thoughts and prayer are with you all during this time.

Dear Lauren & Jake,
Your father was a beautiful, joyful and fun soul. He could always make you laugh even when times were difficult. From the pictures of you both with your Dad he couldn’t loved you more or been more proud of the individuals you have become. Lauren, if we met it was quite some time ago. Sharing the beautiful memories of your Dad on Facebook while you were making them always brought a smile to my heart. It is so very difficult to lose your Dad. My thoughts and prayers are with Lauren and Jake and with your families. Be blessed, remember the fun and laughter and know that he is with God and will be looking out for all of you. With sincere sympathy and prayers. Bernadette

Dearest Jackie,
You are an incredible woman and Larry knew that from the very beginning. I still think back to the fun we had especially when we were all much younger. It was a tough journey for you both and my prayers have been with you. He is Home now with God and at rest. He will be joking with all that have gone before him and will be there to welcome those he loved when their time comes. Find joy in the laughter, joy and love he gave so freely and the man who was an exceptional husband and father. Take care of yourself, Jackie. Larry would want that for you. When tears come, let them fall freely. Pain and sadness will accompany you now, however goodness will replace them with time. Much sympathy and love. Bernadette
