Kevin Martin Richter

June 05, 2017

Kevin Martin Richter passed away on June 5, 2017 in his home of 20 years. Kevin was the husband of Marsheila Richter. They shared 42 years together and were married 38 years in June.

Kevin was born in Darby, PA and grew up in Havertown, PA. He is the son of Catherine Holt Richter and the late Robert John Richter. Kevin is the third oldest of seven brothers and sisters.

Before graduating from Penn State University in 1979 with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Kevin worked as a cabinet maker in his father’s shop for seven years. He retired from Armstrong World Industries as a Capital Engineering Manager for the Global Ceilings Division after 35 years of service to the company.

Kevin enjoyed furniture making and building models. His hobbies extended to model railroading, lego building with his grandsons, and, of course, riding the rails in both Europe and the United States.

The loves of his life were his wife and his children, Kevin Jr. and Sarah Elizabeth, whom he worked so hard to care for. He spread that love and caring to his grandchildren Aidan, Benjamin, Addisyn, and Chase.

A private celebration of life will be held this summer. Any memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge of the American Cancer Society.

Condolences to the Family

Kevin was a friend and a mentor to me.  I am deeply saddened by his early passing.  He helped me in my career at Armstrong and I carry with me to this day many of the teachings he passed on to me as a young engineer.  My thoughts and prayers are with you as he is now in a better place.  David Zimmerman

Our heartfelt condences to the Richter family.  Kevin and I spent many weeks together during a Armstrong Management course in the 80’s.  Both Stef and I crossed paths with Kevin many times since both within Armstrong and out.  Each visit was short but always felt like no time had passed.  We mourn your loss and our thought are with you.
