Kent Aaron Vendrick, 72
March 02, 2022
Kent Aaron Vendrick, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 2, 2022, with his family by his side at his home in Oxford, PA. He was 72.
Kent was the loving husband of Debbie Kaye (Kalbach) Vendrick with whom he spent 46 wonderful years of marriage.
Born in Chester, PA and raised in DE, Kent was the son of the late John and Phyllis (Aaron) Vendrick. Kent received his Bachelor of Science from The University of Delaware in 1972 before beginning a successful career as a Mechanical Engineer with W.L. Gore.
Kent lived a fulfilling life, always working on projects while still finding time to relax and enjoy time with the people he loved. A few of his many projects, Kent built his home with Debbie in 1977, then rehabbed a 1907 North Wildwood, NJ Victorian beach home in 1987. After retiring in 2010, Kent completed building his 1949 Chevy Truck he enjoyed taking to shows. Later, Kent built a teardrop camper trailer that He and Debbie used to travel the country, while visiting most of our National Parks. Above all else, Kent loved to build haunted attractions. Besides his own “Ravenwood Cemetery” he built around and, in his home, for all the neighborhood to enjoy, Kent volunteered to build haunts at Millburn Orchards in Elkton, MD and the George Fox Friends School in Cochranville, PA.
Besides working on his own projects and haunts, Kent had a passion for volunteering in his local community. As a board member of the Oxford Area Historical Association, Kent lead a group of volunteers, including his family, in the construction of the Hopewell Bell Tower. Additionally, He volunteered his time and talents to make background scenery for several performances put on by the Oxford Center for Dance and Brandywine Ballet Company in West Chester, PA. For many years Kent volunteered his time and talents running the Cub Scout Pack 252 Pinewood Derby and maintaining the Pinewood Derby track. He never hesitated to make time to help anyone he could.
Surviving with his wife are three children, Alison Federoff and her husband Josh, of Pottstown, PA, Chris Vendrick and his wife Emily of Haddon Township, NJ, and Matthew Vendrick, of Oxford, PA; three grandchildren with a fourth on the way, Addyson and Caden Federoff, and Avery and Baby Boy Vendrick; and two brothers, Dale Vendrick and his wife Barbara of Earlville, MD, and Bret Vendrick and his wife Colleen of Newark, DE. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Vendrick.
Funeral Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family and a celebration of life will be held later in the spring of 2022.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Area Historical Society, PO Box 355, Oxford, PA, 19363, or the Sierra Club, at www.sierraclub.org.

Kent and I worked together at W.L.Gore for about 14 years before we both took comittments at other plants. He was always upbeat, high energy, and a top notch Mechanical Engineer. He has left his mark in many of the Gore plants. To this very day as I look out my office window across the manufacturing floor I see a machine Kent designed back in 1982. It still works 2 shifts a day all week long processing millions of dollars worth of material with little or no issues. Amazing! I considered Kent my greatest mentor here at Gore….I really enjoyed being around him. We had alot of good times together. Kent would always take time for someone who needed help with something…anything. He was selfless in many ways. I am so glad our paths crossed on life’s journey. I am a much better person for it. Kent will be sorely missed.

Only Kent would have invited the neighborhood kids to paint his demolition derby car. He was a neighborhood treasure.
