Kelly L. King, 54

October 11, 2017

Kelly L. King, 54, of Astoria, NY and formerly of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 as a result of injuries suffered in a bicycling accident in New York City.
Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of William T. King, of Newmanstown, PA and the late Janis Lindley King who passed away in 2015.
Kelly was a 1987 graduate of Millersville University, earning a BS in Speech and Communications/Theater. He had worked as a radio DJ for local stations, worked as a bike messenger in Washington D.C. and most recently as an executive assistant at the New York City law office of Gibson Dunn Law Associates.
His true passion in life was the theater and the performing arts, with the stage being a placed he truly loved to be. He performed all across the United States in theater and musicals for decades, performing locally in productions at the Fulton and the Dutch Apple. He especially loved Shakespearean theater and was recently making plans for establishing a local theater company in Lititz. An artist of many talents, he also played the dulcimer, percussion and the mandolin and loved many genres of music.
He enjoyed traveling to destinations like Puerto Rico and Baja, Mexico. He enjoyed the outdoors, cycling, visiting West Virginia.
In addition to his father, Bill, he is survived by his brothers: Christopher L. married to Ann King of Lumberton, NJ, Jeffrey S. married to Janet King of East Petersburg, and J. Mitchell King of Lititz and by his nieces and nephews: Melissa, Aaron, Tyler, Kyle, and Kimberly, and friend, Ruth E. Peeling.
Friends will be received on Saturday, October, 28, 2017 from 10-11AM at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA, with the Memorial service to follow at 11AM. Condolences to the Family

October 30, 2017

Kelly: welcoming, kind, intelligent, caring, with an easy laugh – Recently, reconnected through Facebook – and I was again able to enjoy his intelligence & quick humor.  It is impressive the way he pursued his dreams thru hard work & commitment, especially his muse of theatre & the performing arts. My condolences to his family & friends – I can only hope my message brings some comfort in that he lives in very positive experiences and memories. Many from Hempfield High School (Class of 1981) are better for knowing him – he was not forgotten all these years since high school – and his unexpected departure does not change that. Kelly is an amazing inspiration to many! Karen Hickman Soltes

I am a HHS classmate of Kelly.  Though our paths did not cross, I always admired him.   As a  young teen he always knew what he wanted and where his heart was.  I enjoyed following and seeing he made it to NYC.  Condolences to all his family and friends.  HHS ’81

I find myself incapable of writing any message of that would truly express not only my sorrow at Kelly’s passing, but also my deepest condolences to all who grieve the loss of this precious soul, especially his family and closest friends. Though Kelly’s light continues to shine, this mortal world remains diminished. With love, Robyn Hill

My heart was so broken today to read of Kelly’s passing.  As a fellow Executive Assistant in New York City, I had the great pleasure of speaking with Kelly many times in my work — what a beautiful soul.  I am so very sorry for your loss and send tremendous love to all of Kelly’s friends and family.  I will make a donation to the theater in memory of Kelly’s passion – my deepest condolences to you all.  I will keep his memory in my heart always.  Much love, Cinda Lawrence
