Judith A. Keiser, 77

January 10, 2023

Judith A. Keiser (Grammie) of Lancaster PA, entered heaven on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.

She was surrounded by her family; son Joe Keiser, Millersville, daughter Karen married to Scott Young, Lancaster, and the apple of her eye, granddaughter Madison Young, Lancaster. She was predeceased by her parents Kervin Thomas DeBolt and Sarah (Killian), a half-brother, and stepbrother.

After a stellar teaching career of 30 years with the Penn Manor School district, she retired in 2007.

Judy had a volunteer heart for her church and community. She will be greatly missed. You could not be in a room with Judy without knowing what a caring and generous heart she had. She lived life with her heart and all she wanted was to help the people she loved. She loved Penn State football, the beach, spending time with her family and friends, but nothing made her happier than spending time with her granddaughter, Madison. To know her was to love her.

During her last days here on earth she expressed that we celebrate her life and not mourn her loss.

She was a lifelong member of Redeemer Church, Lancaster and a weekly follower of the online church service at Grace Community Church in Willow Street. She had a passion for God and expressed several times she could not wait to enter the gates of heaven.

We would like to thank Long Communities located at Highland for their support for Judy during these past several months along with the care and support provided by Hospice of Lancaster County.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 N George St, Millersville, PA beginning at 4 PM. There will be a greeting time beginning at 3:30 PM. Dress casually. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in her honor to Penn Manor Educational Foundation, P.O. Box 1001, Millersville, PA 17551, or Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.

Happy Birthday Mom,
7 months since your passing and it is the hardest thing I have ever had to go through.  I miss your laugh and miss our phone calls and visits.  You were the one person I could talk too about things on my mind, I am happy you are in heaven with god who you love so much and I hope it is everything you have always wanted.  I love you.

Mrs. Keiser was my 5th grade teacher at Pequea Elem. She was absolutely one of the BEST teachers! I was such a shy little girl and typically kept to myself in elementary school, but I was finally comfortable to come out of my shell that year. It was all due to Mrs. Keiser. She wasn’t scary like most other teachers. She was warm and caring and genuinely showed an interest in her students. I wish I had been successful in telling her these things before her passing. My condolences to her family. Valerie Brooks Lutter

Joe, Karen and Family:
i am so sorry to hear about your mothers passing. I was your neighbor on Coral St. Your mother was always so much fun to sit and talk with. I remember coming home and my mom, your mom and other neighbors still outside talking on the porch! I hope your memories will help you all through this time. Ken Barton

My very first job working for the Penn Manor School district was in Judy’s classroom.  She was the Resource Room teacher at Letort Elementary, and I worked there part-time while I was a mother of two and taking courses at Millersville University.  Judy was a wonderful role model for me, and I learned so much from her while having the most valuable hands-on classroom experiences.  It was the most incredible of opportunities, and I am so thankful for her guidance and instruction.  Judy was positive, kind, and encouraging, and her sense of humor was such a positive asset to have in the classroom.
I am sending much love and  many prayers for her family as they celebrate her life and mourn her death.

As a coworker at Penn Manor I felt blessed to get to know her and trusted her ability to truely understand her students. Judy was and always will be special. She was an exceptional teacher and intuitively knew what each of her “kids” needed. I loved being able to pop into her room and watch her interact and connect positively with her class. I remember her retirement talk filled with being able to spend time with her granddaughter. I’m sure they made the best memories and had wonderful laughs and hugs. I’m so sad that she no longer is physically here among us, but there is no doubt that her spirit lives on in so many she loved and the lessons she taught all of us.

I was absolutely gutted to hear about the passing of Mrs Keiser. She was my 6th grade teacher at LeTort back in 2000-2001. She was an amazing teacher and left a mark on many of her students over her teaching career. Sending my love and prayers to her family and friends during this time. Rest easy, Mrs Keiser!

Joe, Karen and family,  So very sorry for the loss of your mother.  I have many fond memories of Judy when she would visit her Aunt Mary on Pearl Street, which was only two houses away from us.  Jim knew Judy for years growing up at 423 Pearl Street.  I know everyone who knew her loved her.  I still have the sweater she made when our first son was born 50 years ago.  Keeping you and the family in our thoughts and prayers.

Mrs Keiser was my 6th grade teacher at LeTort Elementary. She was the first teacher I ever fell in love with. She actually cared about us as people, not just students. She would always ask us what we did over the weekend and she was always entertained by us. She encouraged me to pursue writing and created a love of learning. She made each student feel important, interesting and special. She used to joke around with the janitors, Mr Findley and Mr Enterline. It wasn’t unusual for us to have toilet paper rolls and fake rats thrown into our classroom or a random janitor running through in weird attire! Mr Findley would knock on our window from the school yard and give us a toothless, dentureless Cheshire Cat smile. She loved the antics! She was also good friends with Della Crider from the cafeteria and it was fun to have her visit our room often and joke with us. The picture used for the obit is the smile I remember from so long ago…I can hear the laugh! At the end of my 6th grade year, 1996, I made her a book and all the students in the class signed it. We loved Mrs Keiser and were sad to leave her classroom. Years later, in 2003, I was set to graduate. The LeTort alum revisited Mrs Keiser in our old class. She was so happy to see us and bid us good luck. Low and behold, she had saved the book I had made years ago and had it on display for us as a memory! She was that kind of teacher! I will never forget her! I’m sorry for  the loss of Judy Keiser. She is greatly missed, I’m sure.

Karen, Joey and Family…I’m so very sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. I adored Judy. We were your neighbors on Coral St. Judy had a 1965 black VW bug and I got one as my first car. She taught me to drive stick shift.
Many nights m, she and my Mom and our other neighbor, Gail, sat out front until midnight talking and laughing. Judy had a great sense of humor. Thoughts and prayers are with you all. Carol Barton and my mom, Leta Barton

I was blessed to see this incredible lady before the Christmas Holiday.  She was an inspiration to me and someone who always believed in me.  I am grateful that God placed her in my life and so very thankful that she was my friend.  As one of my favorite praise songs states:
With your final heartbeatKiss the world goodbye.                                                                                                                        Then go in peace, and laugh on Glory’s side
And fly to JesusFly to JesusFly to Jesus and live.
God Bless-Tim Sterner

My condolences on the loss of your mother. It has been so long since we spent time together, but I have wonderful memories of her kindness to my family and me. She had a lot of love in her heart for others and it was obvious. I enjoyed her sense of humor as well. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.  Rebecca Scheuer
