Josephine M. Kealey

On Monday, February 18, 2013 Josephine Kealey was received by Our Lord and died peacefully with her family at her side at Hospice & Community Care of Mt. Joy, PA. Born in Philadelphia, PA on February 19, 1919 she was the loving daughter of Joseph Leo and Adele (Erkert) McCullough and the sister of Marie Charlotte (McCullough) Flum of St. Petersburg, FL. Josephine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Richard Kealey who died in 1983. She is survived by daughters, Carol A. Husted of Mountville, PA and Linda M. McCloud of Denver, PA; sons, Thomas R. Kealey and wife Elizabeth (Pignataro) of Manheim, Richard Kealey and wife Mary Louise (Rash) of Stillwater, PA and Joseph M. Kealey and wife Kyle L. (Kolb) of Denver, PA. Josephine known as “Mimi” was the beloved grandmother of Thomas, Stephen, Darren and Eric Husted, Kristin Lukianovitch, Laura McCloud, Adam Kealey, Rachael Kealey and Michael Kealey, and great-grandmother to Megan, Brandon, Julia, Paige, Sara, Owen and baby Connor and many nieces and nephews.

Known as “Kay Baby” to her husband Tom, Josephine loved to write letters, read, sing and sew for which she won a Sewing Award at her graduation from Hallahan Girls High School in 1937. She was always ready to make prom gowns, Halloween costumes and bridesmaid dresses even into her 80’s. Hard work was her motto and she demonstrated that “age” would not stop her working into her 93rd year in the office of her son’s business, Brown Transmission and Bearing. Her faith and grace was evident to everyone she knew and all who loved her and will miss forever.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1PM on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 558 W. Walnut St, Lancaster, PA 17603 with Rev. Michael E. Messner as Celebrant. Family and friends will be received from 12 noon to 1PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice & Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125 and to Holy Family Radio, PO Box 6025, Lancaster, PA 17607. Eleonore and Bob Whartenby

My heart and thoughts and are with all of you at this time. As prepared as one is for the passing of a beloved parent, it is still such a shock. As a Kealey in law, I feel very blessed to have become part of your family. I will always remember Mimi and our genealogy trip together with Carol. Mimi was my roommate for several days. The best one I ever had. Her long life was one of a wealth of hopes and dreams, fulfilled days, and days well-lived and now a legacy to celebrate. May happy and loving memories of the gem that was your mother, encourage all of you at this time

Marge Kealey and family

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. She and my mother, Catherine Erkert DiFilippo shared all of life’s adventures by letter for many so many years. They were true friends. Ironically, our mother has been gone 7 years (Feb. 21) at the wonderful age of 93. They now share heavens adventures, face to face. Peace to both of them.

Joe DiFilippo & Family

Bill and I are saddened to hear of this great lady’s passing. She was one of a kind and we both were fortunate to visit with her frequently over the years at her son Rick’s home. Our prayers and thoughts are with the Kealey family during the difficult time. Joan and Bill Schoen

Dear Cousins,

We are sending prayers and love to you all during this difficult time. We are all so grateful we had the opportunity to spend time with Josephine and all of you at the Family Reunion a few years ago when (our husband & father) William was still with us. We know how painful it is to lose a loved one and we know Josephine will be sorely missed. Love, The William Erkert family, Teresa, Jim, Tom, Suzanne, Kathy, Bill & Maria

So sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. She was such a nice person. I hope that in the days, months and years that follow, you will find peace in the memory of her long, happy life.

Michael DiFilippo

I send my prayers and deepest condolences.
With my love as ever,
Your cousin in the U.K.,

All the family sends love too

My Dear Cousins,

I have been asking the Lord to comfort you during your time of grief. I have also  been thinking of the wonderful times we’ve had together and how God has blessed us with wonderful parents. Now three of them are together with the Lord. I know my mother wants so much to be with the family at this time but, as you know, her health prevents her from doing so. My nephew, Paul, and I will see you on Saturday. God bless you.

Your Cousin,
Joanne

Dear Tom and Beth,
We send our deepest sympathy to you.  We hope you can find some small comfort in all of your good memories.  Mimi was a wonderful person. Please convey our heartfelt sympathies to the entire Kealey family.   Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this sad time.

They say that the true legacy of a person is the children they leave behind.  While I only had the opportunity to meet Mimi once, I have dealt with Tom and Joe Kealey for years.  I have found them to be honest, hardworking, humble leaders in the business world.  As a result, they are not only business associates, but friends as well.  More importantly, they are a testament to Josephine Kealey.  All of us of the "IDC Family" extend our sincere thoughts and prayers to the Kealey and Brown Transmission families.  God bless.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Kealey Family.

My heart goes out to all of you and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers on saturday especially my children. I have many fond memories of Mimi and I had very much respect for her. She was a wonderful woman to know and those that were lucky enough to meet her and get to know her knew that. Much Love, Jamy Shelly

Dear Tom, Beth and family;
Audrey and I send condolences on the passing of your mother. We pray that God’s grace will ease your grief. While we did not know her personally she had to be a wonderful mother to have raised such a wonderful family.

I was privilaged to know Mimi through Joe and Kyle Kealey.  Mimi was a class act, beautiful, kind, and happy.  Her qualities are reflected in her children.
My prayers are with you and your family.  Love, Ellen Pennington

To all at Brown Transmission, one of my many fond memories of my time at Brown was seeing Mrs. Kealey when she came to work.  She was always dressed so nice with a big smile to greet you and ask you how you are.  My prayers go out to the Kealey family.  So sorry for your loss.  She was a special person to many.
