Joseph F. Baehr, 97

Joseph F. Baehr, 97, of Lancaster passed away peacefully with his loving children at his side on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy. He was the devoted husband of the late Lucy (Bonina) Baehr who passed away in 2009.
Born in Philadelphia he was a son of the late Otto and Marion (Curley) Baehr. Joe retired from Machine Metals in Norristown, PA as a sheet metal mechanic. He was an avid reader with a lifelong curiosity and was a true gentleman who brought joy to many. Joe attended St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Lancaster. Joe was very patriotic and proudly served his country during WWII in the Aleutian Islands Campaign in the Army Air Corps.
He is survived by his three children Anna Marie wife of Dr. Robert Sanford of Mercer Island, WA, Joseph J. Baehr husband of Linda Miracle Baehr of Raleigh, NC and Celeste wife of Michael Van Belle of Lititz, PA; three grandchildren Michael, Jillian and Joseph. Joe was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 26, 2016 at 11AM from the Chapel of Brethren Village, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17604 with Rev. Dana Statler officiating. Interment will be private. A viewing will be held from 10AM until the time of the funeral service in the Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund at Brethren Village at the above listed address and or to Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive, P.O. Box 4125 Lancaster, PA 17604 in his memory.
