Jose L. Negron, 81
Jose L. Negron, 81, of Dauphin Street in Lancaster, died at home on Thursday, January 11, 2007.
Born in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, Jose was the son of the late Juan Negron and the late Juana Maldonado. He was married to Aurelia (DeJesus) Negron for 61 years.
Jose was a farmer in Puerto Rico. After moving to Lancaster, he assisted his family in operating their family grocery store. He was a member of San Juan Bautista Catholic Church. Jose enjoyed singing and playing the guirro, gardening, farming and growing vegetables. While living in Puerto Rico, Jose trained walking horses and used them for transportation. Jose loved spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Jose is survived by nine children: Arcelia Cruz; Judy Padilla; William Negron; and Juan Negron, all of Lancaster; Virginia Lange of Jupiter, FL; Roberto Negron; Maria Negron; and Norma Negron, all of Villalba, PR; and Pedro Negron of Ponce, PR; 28 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church, 425 S. Duke St., Lancaster, PA on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. The first viewing will be held at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA on Friday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. with a Christian Prayer Service at 8:30 p.m. A second viewing will be held at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will be in Villalba, Puerto Rico.
