José A. Rodriguez, 38

José A. Rodriguez, 38, formerly of Lancaster passed away April 27, 2017 after a long battle with ALS. He was born in Guayama, PR, to Diana Almestica and the late José M. Rodriguez.
José attended the School District of Lancaster, wrestling at Hand Middle School and McCaskey as a heavyweight. After graduation, José earned an associate degree on Custodial Engineering from Hiram G. Andrews Center in Johnstown, PA, and had been employed as a cabinetmaker, as well as having worked at Mennonites Home on Harrisburg Pike.
He enjoyed playing dominoes, board games and card games. José liked football and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
José attended Assembly Church of Pentecostal of Jesus Christ of Lancaster, where he played the bongos/drums.
He will always be remembered for his love of family meals, if you mentioned the word “food” he was there.
José is survived by his mother, Diana Almestica, Marietta; one son, Dustin Rodriguez, New Cumberland; two sisters, Dianna Harrow (Leroy), Marietta, and Sandra Valdez (Hector), East Petersburg; three brothers, Miguel Rodriguez, of Guayama, PR, Jorge Rodriguez (Aimee), Mexico, and Luis Montanez, Frackville, PA; four nieces and three nephews. José was predeceased by his father, Jose M. Rodriguez.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 11AM at Calvary Baptist Church, 530 Milton Rd. Lancaster, PA 17602. Interment will be in Mellinger’s Mennonite Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior at the church.

Just found out today .. was in Florida at the time. Came back to Pa. Was trying to meet up with you but never could. This is why.  You where always a good frien, & a good person.  We laughed a lot. Especially the day I helped move your family over by almanac ave .. I missed talking to you & now I can never buy you will always be thought of..
