Jonathan David Forry, 101

February 29, 2016

Jonathan David Forry, 101, died peacefully Monday, February 29, 2016, at his home in Lancaster that he shared with his wife of 62 years, Erma Bell Forry.
Jonathan was born on June 6, 1914, to Charles and Lizzie Forry. He was the last living sibling of 10 children. He grew up in the Myerstown area and began working at Keller Bros. Auto Company, Buffalo Springs, in 1935. First selling cars door to door, he proved himself to be a great salesman. He worked for Keller Bros. for an amazing 63 years, and managed their branch in Lititz, PA. He enjoyed his work and was never happier than when he was delivering a new car to a satisfied customer.
Jonathan was a lover of nature and animals, and spent his free time at the family cabin in Lititz. Many family and friends will remember the lovely gatherings there. More recently he enjoyed watching the wildlife outside his window while eating a bowl of vanilla ice cream.
Jonathan was a member of the Lititz Rotary Club with 50 years of perfect attendance. He had a strong faith in God, and was a member of the Lititz Church of the Brethren, serving the church actively for many years. He was steadfast, honest and compassionate towards those in need. His calm, quiet demeanor served him well throughout his long life. He was an inspiration to all who knew him.
Jonathan is survived by his wife, Erma, daughters, Kathleen Moyer, Julia Hyser, Suzanne Forry, and Donna Forry (David Peters), grandchildren Judith McCoyd, Meredith and Jonathan Schaudies, and Mattie Peters, four great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on March 12, 2016 at 11:00, to be followed by a luncheon, at the Lititz Church of the Brethren, 300 W Orange St, Lititz. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Private interment in Memory Gardens, Ephrata. Memorial contributions made to Lititz Church of the Brethren, 300 W. Orange St., Lititz, PA 17543 or to Rotary Club of Lititz, P.O. Box 28, Lititz, PA 17543.
