John Truong, 83

John Truong, 83, of Lancaster, PA, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, July 19, 2013.
He was the husband of the late Mary L. Nguyen, who passed away in 2009, Born in Hue, Vietnam, he was the son of the late Vinh Truong and Gia Tran.
John had served with honor as a Captain in the South Vietnamese Army during the Vietnam War. After the fall of South Vietnam, he was imprisoned in a Communist reeducation camp for 5 years. When he was released, he escaped from the country and came to the United States.
He had worked for the AMP Corporation in Lancaster, retiring in 1999.
John was a member of the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church Vietnamese Community. He was always a positive man with a constant smile.
He is survived by his daughters Lynn K. Vu married to Tri D. Vu of Lancaster, Caroline Khuu of Mt. Joy, Lan T. Vu married to Huynh D. Vu of Landisville, Jennifer Truong married to Kevin Dicus of Elizabethtown, and Kim Truong married to William McGlashan of Delaware; his sons: Donald B. Truong married to Cuc T. Nguyen of Lancaster, Matthew D. Truong married to Diane D. Pham of Virginia and his 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 from 7-8:00PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St. Lancaster. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 11AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA, with Rev. Hoa Nguyen as Celebrant. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

My sincere condolence to John’s family. John was a true patriot for serving for serving  country shoulder to shouder with the US forces. I also had two friends as POWs.  I was stationed at Cam Ranh Bay.
You are a true patriot in your country and the US. Thank you.
