Condolences to the Family

This is a long time coming. I grew up two houses down from the Kelley’s. Nicest people I knew growing up. Considering I was the new kid. Always admired Mr Kelley and the rest of his family.  Michael, Mike, Cheryl & Zach

JOhn, 5 years have passed and still I cant drive by your house on Raleigh Drive and think about you and how much your Wetherburn friends miss you. The best legacy you could have left was great memories.  You succeeded immensely. Rest in peace, John.   Chris H.

We miss you already and will always love you.

Dear Kelley Family,

We send our condolences to your family during this very difficult and sad time. I will miss him as a business partner and a very good friend. I have a lot of fond memories with John in Korea and all of our Korean staff remembers him well. The Global family all join me in paying respect to a very fine man.

Fondly,

W.C. Kim

Dear Susie, Hillary and Drew,

We were so sorry to hear about John.

John and I were hired at Herley around the same time. As a matter of fact John interviewed me.

I will definitely miss his jokes such as when he would call into the office on a Friday afternoon a couple of minutes before 5:00 p.m. and say to me, "So I am surprised you are still at work". He was joking by saying that he thought I already cut out of work early because it was Friday. Then we would both laugh and say, "TGIF"! He had such a great sense of humor.

I am so sorry for your loss and want you to know that John will be missed.

With Deepest Sympathy.

Chris McCurdy & Family

Dear Susie,

I have wonderful memories of you and John on the tennis courts.

For Susie:

I was so sorry to hear about John, Susie. I haven’t see you in years. We used to work together many, many years ago at a tiny ad agency in Lancaster with Bill Hull and Fritz. I saw you and John around from time to time around Lancaster, and thought, what a wonderful couple! To celebrate 30 years of marriage, what an accomplishment! I am so sorry to hear of your loss. And I just wanted to let you know that there are people thinking of you and sharing your loss. Even people from the past, whom you touched with your warmth and enthusiasm. I send you my thoughts and prayers for you and your family.

John Carroll

Dear Susie, Hillary and Drew,

We have never met, but I was a great admirer of John. I came to know and respect him over the past 3 years, while serving as Herley’s only employee semi-permanently located in Asia. I can assure you that not only was John known above all to be a considerate and decent man, he was greatly admired as a senior corporate executive by all with whom he came into contact on this side of the world, garnering a wide circle of friends and business acquaintenances that span many countries across the width snd depth of Asia and Europe. We poignantly shall miss him and share your unreconcilable sense of loss. May he rest under God’s eternal care in abundant peace and grace.

My dear old friend Susie, my heart bleeds for you and your family. Tony told me tonight, I did not see the paper. I clicked on his name and his picture showed up and it took my breath away. Goes beyond belief that something like that could happen. All the cliche things, everything sounds so trite, I am just so painfully sorry for your family. I know we were going to talk this past week and I did not hear from you so I worried and rightly so. Susie, I truly mean if there is anything I can do I am there and will be down the road as well. I just do not know what to say other than my memories of John were of a very kind, gentle, loving, fun, handsome, bright and sincere guy who loved you and his children with great passion. I feel very lucky to have known him and I am so sorry for you loss. ( we had so many good times together)

You are all in my prayers

From California to my dear friend Jane Kelley. We have shared so many similar experiences and wonderful memories in life in our 82 years as friends. Most important has been our families. I met Martha and Cory when I visited Rockford in 1983. Unfortunately, I never met John, but knowing the family, he was a very special man. To Susie and their children, Jane, Martha, and Cory, I send my love and prayers. I certainly will be thinking of you all on Saturday.

Bless you all!

Dear Susie, Drew, and Hilary,

We were shocked and sorry to hear about the loss of John, your loving husband and father. We remember John’s warm personality and smile. You were both a great-fun loving couple and we had many laughs. John will be greatly missed by many people.

Sincerely,

Dave and Carolyn McNaughton

Susie —

I am a high school friend of Cori’s and we (Cori, Martha and I) spent a weekend with you and John in Los Angeles during one of our college spring breaks. John teased us mercilessly, pretending to see movie stars as we feverishly looked around– all the while laughing at us. You took us roller-skating on Venice Beach and you were both so kind as we wiped out. I will always remember his wonderful sense of humor and killer smile.

Pat (McDermott) Larsen

Dear Susie, Drew and Hilary,

We were deeply saddened to hear of John’s passing. We fondly remember the four of you walking through our old Wetherburn neighborhood warmly greeting all your neighbors. It was alwyas so heartwarming to see the Kelley’s on their nightly stroll. John’s warm smile and sincere interest in others will always be remembered. He has left quite a legacy for his children. May God’s Perpetual Light shine upon him and His Devine grace and assitance remain with you and your family.

Sincerely,

Dave and Kathy Ference

Susie, Drew and Hilary:

We’re shocked and deeply saddened to learn of John’s passing. It seems like only yesterday you guys were strolling around the neighborhood and we’d bump into each other and chat about silly things and have a good laugh. John always had a grin on his face and a sparkle in his eye. We fondly remember the summertime parties in Wetherburn and John running through the entire county. He had such an easy stride. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We cant believe it; still so young, handsome and hitting his stride. We’ll miss him and his gentle demeanor. Love you guys.

Chris & Phyllis Hurdleston

Dear Susie, and all,

I really don’t have the words right now. I will tell you that our time in Florida was one of the most extraordinary weekends of my life. To share the laughter and tears, and love of 37 years of friendship with Yo and you and the others who showed up is forever in my heart and will always be in my memory.

love to all,

Jeff L.

I was shocked and saddened to hear the news about John. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Susie, Andrew and Hilary-

Tom and I are out of town this weekend and will be unable to attend the service on Saturday in memory of your beloved husband and father. We wanted you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

John will always be remembered as a thoughtful, kind, loving family man and community leader. He will be sorely missed by us all.

Fondest wishes,

Jan Bergen

I’m very sorry for your loss.

I learned of John’s passing in the obituaries a few days ago and I was really saddened. I didn’t know John that well buy we met around 1990 when he was running the Lancaster branch of the York Bank.

We had a small business that was just starting out and John did an extraordinary thing, he gave someone starting out a loan that really helped our business get off the ground. If it weren’t for his belief in us I’m not sure it would have been able to happen. That company Reprint Management Services, became an industry leader in the magazine publishing world and we just sold it in September 2007.

We owe a lot to John, he was someone that touched a lot of lives in many ways and I just thought you would want to know that.

I’ll be praying for you and your family during this very difficult time, and again I’m very sorry for your loss.

Michael Biggerstaff

Dear Kelley Family,

We’ve never had the pleasure of meeting, but John was instrumental in helping our company get a solid start in business back in 1991. John believed in us when no other bank in the county would. I will always remember John and the effect that his trust made in the lives of so many people. I was deeply saddened to learn of his passing.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

With deepest sympathy,

Jim Lewis

Susie,

Throughout the years I have enjoyed a business and personal relationship with John. I met him when he joined Herley and have enjoyed numerous conversations with him over the years. I want you to know that you and the family were always in his conversations and he truly loved you all. I know that in heaven he is running marathons again.

Sincerely,

Susie and Family

I am truly sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Lauren Sahd

Dear Susie and family,

It has been years since we talked, but if you remember, I was your roommate at Lancaster General Hospital when Drew was born. He and our son Jeremy were born on the same day. My husband and I visited with you and John after that, but lost contact. I remember that you were throwing a tennis ball up against the wall during labor.

Our deepest sympathy goes to you and your family. To lose a husband so early in life is more than I can imagine. You will all be in our prayers as you face the next difficult days ahead.

Sincerely,

Kathy and Bob Sholl and sons Jeremy and Jonathan, Mountville, Pa.

I met John only a few times here at the Innovative Concepts offices. He was personable and genuinely friendly. I could tell he was a very kind man. I am so sorry for your loss.
