John (Jack) Alan Weinlein, 61

February 22, 2016

John (Jack) Alan Weinlein, 61, of Lancaster PA, passed away on February 22, 2016, after a brief illness with his loving and devoted wife Margaret (Mc Kinney) Weinlein at his side.

Jack is also survived by his sons Sean partner Caitlin McCullough, Pittsburgh Pa, Paul (Kate), Lancaster PA, and Bill (Nikki), Katy TX and his new grandsons Andrew and Rory as well as brother Ed Weinlein (Sharon) Weinlein of Hilton Head SC and step brother Barry Howard of Morristown NJ. Nephews Bryan (Shelly) along with their children Will, Walker, and Addyson. In addition, nephew Tim Weinlein in Denver, CO. He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Ann Weinlein, brother Bill from New Jersey and step bother Craig Howard from Connecticut.

Jack was born and raised in Morristown NJ. He was a proud graduate and alumnus of Delbarton School. After graduating Marietta College, Ohio. Jack embarked on an extended, successful career in radio business building, training and guiding sales staffs across various markets in Pennsylvania, North & South Carolina and West Virginia. Jack was able to expand his marketing expertise via several key management positions in Marking and direct mail companies. He retired his career with Hall Media, in Lancaster. Jack remarked after explaining to hundreds of radio friends and employees over the years, radio was always supposed to be “fun” it took decades for him to arrive at FUN 101.3.

When presented with his terminal diagnosis Jack immediately embarked on his “bucket list”. True to Jack’s ever present positive attitude, the list focused on the spiritual aspects of life. His sole objective was to reach out to the people with whom he shared so many life experiences. As always, Jack was always thinking about the well-being of others. His local Lancaster network group off friends, along with high school graduating class, and his college fraternity brothers have all responded overwhelming from across the world. Jack enjoyed and relished every message as they arrived.

Jack always enjoyed a passion for his family, friends, and the many business contacts he enjoyed working with during his career. His relationship with wife Margie was his proudest life accomplishment spending 44 years together and married for 37 years. Jack was a parishioner of St. John Neumann.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Jack will be held on Monday February 29th 2016 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd., Lancaster, PA , with visitation from 10:00AM-11:00AM ,followed by Mass at 11:00AM.

Margie,
I am so sorry to just be learning of Jack’s passing.  My heart goes out to you and your family.  Jack was a very special person to so many.  Our friendship started back in the mid 70’s. We sure had a lot of fun times together.  I too have suffered a loss. Keith passed away Feb. 15, 2016.  Our 2 wonderful men are free from pain and walking as angels looking over us.  I have no way to reach you and I am hoping this note some how makes its way to you.
Prayers, Hugs and Love to you !!

Rest in Peace, dear Jack. My condolences to the family.

Dear Marge & family,  Condolences on the recent passing of Jack.  When I first received the string of emails from my Delbarton schoolmates, it was just hard to grasp.  Jack was one of the “memorable characters” in a class of characters who graduated in 1972. His passing leaves an “empty seat” at the table.  Still we will “toast” to him regularly.  Great to see his spirit will live on with his friends and extended family.  We were all lucky to know Jack!   Cheers to that!    Alan Goodyear

Dear Marge, Please accept my deepest sympathies and prayers for you and your family on losing Jack.  After Delbarton, we shared a connection to broadcasting. I wll remember Jack for his kind enthusiastic manner always, his love of family and friends, and great set of “pipes”. Blessings to you and your family. May you find peace and solace in this world and in each other. Jack was always ready with a smile and good word. What a great example for all of us.
Sincerely,
John Ruane

Such a good guy! So upbeat and energetic. Always lifted up by seeing or talking to Jack. Got the sense he packed twice as much life into his being than the average guy.  Salud!

While Jack and I grew up just miles apart, it took Marietta to get us to know each other…and just this week I returned to Marietta and drove by the place we had on Tenth Street….the announcer’s barracks, which brought back the fond memories of so many years ago….our prayers continue for you and the family…..Dan and Karen Latham

Marge and your loving family, speaking for countless Lambda Chi Alpha brothers, and also the students at Marietta College who knew Jack and loved him, we are all better for having him in our lives.  He had an eternally positive spirit, an extraordinary sense of humor, and a very intense love for his family and friends.  He lived a rich life of humor, perspective, and balance, and a lesson that he chose to leave this life on his terms, with you right there loving him with smiles and tears.  We celebrate his life, and that’s what he would want.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you Marge, and your immediate and extended family with love, strength, and in time, peace.
