Our deepest condolences to Bob, Steve, their families and all who cherished Joan. She’s the last remaining cousin of my dad Joe May on his mother’s side and he is 93. I corresponded with her in recent years and enjoyed hearing her speak of her family, grandchildren, and older relatives as she helped me understand the family tree. Love Joe, David, and Ginger May

Hank and I were neighbors on Robindale for 6 years and became fast friends.  In spite of several moves for us thereafter I could always count on a birthday card with a long newsy letter.  And the same at Christmas.  In her last Christmas note she expressed her delight that one of the granddaughters was engaged and to a man named “Mason”!  We were actually considering a trip back to Lancaster and the Jersey Shore with our entire family this summer and we definetely would want to visit Joan and her family.  We had been friends for 50 years and I will miss her greatly.

I will miss Joan’s smile, laugh and concentrated interest in those she was conversing with.  I am confident that she passed on the shortbread & nut-treat recipes that we have enjoyed for decades
Godspeed Joan, you will be missed dearly

Our prayers and sympathy go out to Joan’s family. We are neighbors of Joan in Duck and have know Joan for many years. We always relished the time we spent visiting with Joan when she was at the beach – usually in August. She had a great sense of humor and was always upbeat.  Her love of family always came through. Rest In Peace dear friend. Kathy & Frank

Dear Joan.  Joan was a cousin I found late in life, and whom I was able to visit for a short time only once a year.  We shared stories about Angelina, and Joan was kind enough to give me a self-portrait sculpture of Uncle James Riordan, great uncle to me, and we corresponded frequently by email. I am so sorry we were unable to get together last November. I am thankful that I found her, that she had a place in my life.  I will miss her.

We extend our prayers and sincerest sympathies to all of Joan’s family.  She was a wonderful neighbor and friend.  Our interactions with her were always pleasant, upbeat and sometimes funny.  Joan was very supportive of our children’s fund raising efforts when they were younger, for which we were grateful. As we look across the street, it now feels lonely. We tried to look out for her in the most recent years.  We miss her already.  May she be at peace.
