Jimmie Adams, 77

November 2, 1944 - May 24, 2022

Jimmie (Jim) “James” Adams, Sr, formerly of Lancaster, Pa, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at Meadowview in Northfield, NJ. Jimmie was born in Kansas City, MO, the son of the late Dorothy Jones and Chris Adams. Jim came from very humble beginnings to live a happy life beyond his wildest dreams, with the love of his life Lorraine F. Adams, his devoted wife of 42 years.

An Army veteran, Jim, was stationed in Germany. While in the military, Jim served as a paratrooper and was honorably discharged in 1964. After leaving the military, Jim settled in Indianapolis, where he was employed by RCA that started a long career in manufacturing and management. In 1978 Jim moved to Lancaster as management team at Schick and later worked for Caterpillar, Hamilton Tech and Bulova. Later Jim made an occupational change and had a successful career in the casino industry. Jim worked 28 years at the Tropicana in Atlantic City, NJ, from where he retired.

Jim was a highly intelligent, educated and culturally aware man. He is well known for his intellectual prowess on various topics including history, religion and politics. He had many hobbies to enhance his razor-sharp brain like chess, art and puzzles. Jim was also a very talented singer, that could belt out some of the best classic ballads from Sam Cooke, The Manhattans and the Whispers, just to name few.

Surviving to carry on Jim’s legacy are his wife, Lorraine, and his children from a previous marriage, sons James Adams Jr. of Ephrata, PA, Victor Muhammad (Mayra) of Pittsburgh, PA and daughter Khadijah Adams-Coffield (Louis) of Indianapolis, IN. In his blended family with Lorraine, he expanded the family with Donald Brown Jr. of Lancaster, Phillip Brown of Charlotte, NC and his bonus daughter Lorae Israel (Steve) of Charlotte, NC. Jim was proceeded in death by stepson Gary Brown of Lancaster.

Jim was known as “Butch” by his siblings and is survived by: Richard Adams (Johnnie) of Indianapolis, IN, Norma Edgerson of Kansas City, MO, Brenda Powell of Las Vegas, NV, Terry Savage-El (Sheila) of Kansas City, MO, Gerry Jones (Augusta) of Jonesville, GA, Mano Jones (Cindy) of Vail, AZ, and Lisa Jones of Seattle, WA. Jim was preceded in passing by two brothers. Theopris Savage Jr and. Tommy Jones.

Jim leaves this life well loved and respected by 14 grandchildren 7 great grandchildren, a host of cousins, nieces/nephews, in-laws and plethora of friends.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 East King Street, Lancaster, PA, 17602. A viewing will be held from 9 – 11 AM, and a Celebration of Life service will begin at 11 AM. Interment with military honors will follow at Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster, PA
