Jerome “Jerry” I. Hoff, 77

June 30, 2025

Jerome “Jerry” I. Hoff, age 77, passed away at his Landisville, PA home on June 30, 2025. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Born in Norristown, PA, he was the son of the late John Hoff and Frances (Rotay) Hoff.

Jerry graduated from Bishop Kenrick High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in history from Penn State University. He met his wife, Julie, at college. After their marriage, they settled in Lancaster and Jerry began his career while serving in The Pennsylvania National Guard. He obtained an accounting certificate from Franklin and Marshall College and went on to become a Certified Public Accountant. For over 40 years, Jerry had a distinguished career in accounting, working both in public firms and in private industry. He retired from Murray Insurance Company as Controller. Following his retirement, he continued to do accounting work for small businesses and to provide tax services.

Beyond his professional achievements, Jerry was an avid sports enthusiast and a lifelong fan of Penn State football. WE ARE!!! He enjoyed recreational sports such as running and basketball through which he made many longtime friends. He coached his sons’ intramural basketball teams and was a dedicated supporter of their scholastic soccer careers from elementary school through college. In his later years, Jerry found great joy in golf, particularly the Senior Men’s League at Four Seasons Golf Club. He was particularly proud of having scored two holes-in-one there! His commitment to community service was demonstrated by his involvement in the American Business Club, National Association of Accountants, and Camp Cadet.

A member of St. Edward’s Episcopal Church since its founding in 1981, Jerry displayed his unwavering dedication through his various roles as treasurer, lay reader, usher, and member of the finance committee. His faith and service to the church profoundly enriched his life.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Julie (Wedge) Hoff of Landisville, his sons: David (husband of Laura) of Wellesley, MA and Michael Hoff of Mountville; four granddaughters: Averie, Alexa, Adley, and Caroline; and many dear and cherished friends whose support throughout his illness was of great comfort to him.

Family will receive friends on Monday, July 14, 2025, at St. Edward’s Episcopal Church, 2453 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA from 9:30 AM to 11AM with a memorial service to begin at 11AM. Interment will follow at St. Edward’s Memorial Garden.

Dear Julie and family, I am very sorry to hear of Jerry’s passing. I first met Jerry when he came to work at Securus as our CFO. Jerry was an awesome guy and I enjoyed working with him. He often spoke of going north to Boston for a quick trip to see his family. We had great discussions about Penn State and college basketball. I am very glad our paths had crossed and will have fond memories of the times that we worked together.

Dear Julie, David and Michael, I was very saddened to read Jerry’s obituary in the paper this morning. I can still remember the last time I saw and talked to him at Turkey Hill a few years ago. He was definitely one of the good guys. God bless him and all of you.
