Jere G. Martin, II, 53

February 09, 2016

Jere G. Martin, II, 53, of Lititz, passed away at Lancaster General Hospital on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, following a lengthy illness. Born in Lancaster, Jere was the son of Jere G. and Helen F. (Swinehart) Martin, of Lititz.
Jere worked for Fulton Press for 20 years and most recently had worked for Engle Printing. Jere was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and loved the Baltimore Orioles. He also enjoyed fishing in his spare time. Jere’s last gift, and perhaps his greatest, was the gift of his organs so others might live.

In addition to his parents, Jere is survived by his only daughter, Alexandria M. Martin, a gifted artist, of whom he was so proud. He loved to show off her art to anyone who would show an interest. He is also survived by two sisters: Cheryl L. Tennis, wife of Brett, of Lititz and Christine M. Knudson, wife of Brian, of Dover, PA. He is also survived by his nieces, Lauren and Lisa Tennis.

Funeral Services for Jere will be held at 7PM, on Monday, February 15, 2016 at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home from 6PM-7PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Jere’s name be made to New Beginnings Church, PO Box 252, Akron, PA 17501, to help defray the costs of services.

Jere, Helen and family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. Jere was a great guy, and always made us smile. While Jere and I were classmates, I knew him better these last years. Glad my family was able to know Jere and have some fond memories of him. May God be with you all!

Jere and I met in 3rd grade and we were inseparable,…we played sports together, went to school together and partied and chased girls together…We spent most of our Summers @ Lititz Springs Pool or playing wiffle ball in Sutter Village and baseball in the evenings..Randy Heacock, Jere and I used to be like the 3 Musketeers (inseparable) at least through Jr. High n most of High School…we even went to Vo-Tech together..Randy left us way too early and now Jeres gone too…it broke my heart to see him in the hospital on Monday, but I felt I owed him a visit..I’m pretty sure Jere n Randy are having quite a reunion in Heaven…My warmest thoughts n prayers go out to the Martin Family n Friends at this difficult time…

So sorry to hear of Jere’s passing.  Jere and my husband were good friends when working at Oehme’s Bakery and Jere was our usher at our wedding. They had lost touch over the years but reconnected by Facebook and at my husband’s 50th birthday party.  It was good to see him again.  I am glad to hear that he is no longer in pain!!!  RIP Jere!!!

With the help of fb, it was nice being in touch with Jere again and talking about the past and fun times from our younger years. I was so surprised and sorry to hear of his passing. I am sending my love and prayers to his daughter and family. Sad to know the world lost another kind hearted soul and awesome to know that he left the gift of life for others.
