Jean S. Neil, 100
September 03, 2018
This Christmas season we remember a lovely woman, Jean S. Neil, who died on September 3 at 100 years old. Born in Indiana County to Nicholas and Pearl Piccirilli DeNardis, Jean was the widow of Charles R. Neil, who died in 2006 after 64 years of marriage. She lived most of her life in Cornwall.
Jean was a loving and energetic woman. She enjoyed meeting new people and always said something nice about everyone. She loved animals, especially her dogs. She was fond of playing bridge and pinochle with her friends. She liked to bowl, but her favorite pastime was golf. Her advice to anyone wishing to live a long life was to “walk a lot and play golf!”
A wonderful mother and grandmother, Jean is survived and greatly missed by her daughter, Sandra, wife of Ernest Richardson, of Lancaster; grandsons Andrew Richardson, husband of Erin, NY; Christopher Richardson, husband of Rebecca, MD; John Richardson, husband of Krista, MN; and granddaughter, Laurel Richardson Dumonteil, wife of Frank, CO; and grandson, Jerry C. Neil, Lebanon. Also surviving and great-grandchildren Benjamin, Jillian, Sadie, Grace, William, Andre, Leah, Blythe, and a sister, Phyllis Beard, who lives in Lebanon.
In addition to her husband, Jean was preceded in death by a son, Jerry R. Neil, and sisters Theresa Kasperik, Lydia Binkley, and Helen Malone, and a brother, Thomas DeNardis, who died in infancy.
Jean wanted everyone not to be sad at her passing because she said, “I had a good life, a wonderful husband and family, and I got to play golf!”
The family would like to thank all who were friendly and helpful to Jean, especially in her later years. She received excellent care at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community and by the staff at Hospice.
