Jean Lowe, 91

Jean Lowe, 91, of Willow Valley, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at The Glen at Willow Valley in Willow Street, PA. She was the loving wife of Lewis Lowe with whom she celebrated 62 years of marriage in July.

Born in Ollie, Iowa she was a daughter of the late Kilmar and Mamie (Spry) Gardner.

A graduate of the former Parsons College in Fairfield, Jean earned her Bachelor’s degree in education. She would go on to teach elementary education for five years and was employed as the educational assistant and youth director of the First Methodist Church in Ottumwa, Iowa. She then took on her most important role as a wife and mother. She was a devoted Christian who was actively involved in ministry in the many towns they lived in. She was a proud member of P.E.O. – a philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement of women; educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans, and stewardship to Cottey College; and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations. She especially liked working on Cottey College projects.

She will also be remembered for her kind, caring, nurturing personality. She was a friend to all who knew her and will be missed by many.

In addition to her husband, Lewis, she is survived by her sons, James (Sherry) Lowe of Lancaster, Timothy (Dawn) Lowe of Ellicott City, Maryland, eight grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 6th at 11:00 am at Meadow Ridge, 925 Willow Valley Lakes Drive, 4th Floor, Willow Street PA, 17584. The family will receive guests from 10:30 am until the time of service. Inurnment will follow for the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Indiantown Gap Rd, Annville, PA 17003.
