Jean E. Sebastian, 93

October 30, 2018

Jean Esbenshade Sebastian, long-time resident of Lancaster County, died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 in her home at the age of 93.
Born in 1925, Jean graduated from Manheim Township High School in 1943 and Penn State College in 1947. At Penn State, she met Paul J. Sebastian through InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Jean and Paul married on June 5, 1948, and celebrated their 70th anniversary this year.
Jean worked at Simplex Paper Box Company prior to Paul opening a photographic supply store in 1956. For almost 50 years, she provided bookkeeping and accounting services for HIRTECH, first in Shillington and later Lancaster, retiring when they sold the business in 2002.
In addition to attending Calvary Church and enjoying gardening, cooking and reading, Jean was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandma.
She is survived by her husband, Paul, daughter, Nancy Sebastian Kuch, granddaughter, Becky Bruton, and great-grandsons Maccabee and Raja.
A memorial service on November 17th will begin at 1pm at Calvary Church, Lancaster, followed by a reception and visiting with the family. Instead of flowers, a memorial contribution to Lancaster Bible College would honor Jean and the memory of her parents, J. Martin and Anna Esbenshade, who gifted their farm to the college in 1954.

Nancy,
Just got your email about your Mom and Dad. A truly classy couple in everything they undertook. I will certainly cherish my memories of them and you during the heydays of the Sebastian Exchange.

Paul and Nancy,
We fondly remember Jean’s support during the heydays of the Sebastian Miniatures. Enjoyed spending time with all of you at the annual Festival. And, a special time when we were able to visit you in Lancaster.

Dear Nancy, Be assured of my prayers for you, Becky and the grand-kids. Dona Fisher passed on the information that your father also went home to Jesus a few days ago. Truly your parents were inseparable. Barb Musser
