Jay L. Epstein

Jay L. Epstein,76 of  Lancaster, Pa. died Monday, March 12, 2007 at the Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center.

Born in Oceanside New York, he was the son of the late Alfred and Betty Frieghagen Epstein. Jay was married to Mildred Perullo Epstein for 53 years.

Mr. Epstein was the chief of Police in the State of New York for 40 years and retired in 1993. He served in the army during the Korean War. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Lynbrook, New York.

Surviving beside his wife are five children: Darlene Arnold, Jay A. Epstein, Patti wife of Gerard Salmon, Gary Epstein, Darren husband of Darlene Epstein, eleven grandchildren, two sisters: Elaine Frutek and Fay Ryf.

A funeral service will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, Pa. on Thursday at 8:00pm. There will be a viewing at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00pm on Thursday evening. Interment in Nassau Knolls Memorial Cemetery, Port  Washington, NY on Friday at 11:30am.
