Doug,
We wanted to extend our condolences to you in loss of your wonderful wife Janet. She touched alot of lives and I know she meant alot to our son-in-law Brandon Meshey.
In sincere sympathy,
Randy and Diane Lapp

Dear Doug and the rest of Janet’s family,

How well I remember all you Gehmans and Encks when I taught all of you at WHS so many years ago! In my mind’s eye, you are all still high school students. I was so sorry to read that Janet had died. It was wonderful, however, to learn of her faith and read about her many accomplishments. The world has lost a precious soul, which Heaven has gained. May sweet memories balance your grief at this sad time.

With heartfelt sympathy,
Deann Buffington (formerly Showers)

Our condolences, love and prayers to you and your family. Janet was a sweet, caring person. PRAISE THE LORD she is home.

Dear Doug,
Joke and I and our kids:  Martyn, Natalie, and Jon wish to convey our sadness upon learning of the passing of your dear wife Janet.  You and Janet ministered God’s grace and love to our kids in the Middle East at a time when our family was very fragile.  And you baptized our son Jon when he suffered from post-traumatic stress after we returned to the States.  We will never forget what you gave to us!  You both have consistently for many years offered God’s unfailing love and tender mercies to all who came under your ministry, and Janet was a full-partner with you in ministering God’s grace.  May your heart be consoled in knowing that her life was not lived in vain, and may you press on to finish the race that you’ve run together these many years!
–Love,
Ron and Joke Jones, Lima, Ohio

Doug,
Brother, I can only imagine the pain from this separation your experiencing now, but I know your hope is found in Christ Jesus.
I look back with such gratitude to God for the time and experiences spent with you and your lovely wife. What a Christ focused life the 2 of you lived out together in your marriage and as individuals.
As I think back to my time spent with you and Janet in Africa, learning about Biblical marriage through videos by Bruce Wilkinson in your living room, taking the children’s ministry/mime to David Franklin’s hometown church in Pittsburgh, or all the various carpentry projects around your home; I thank The Lord for each moment spent with you guys.
Janet’s Love for The Saviour was evident to all in the way she lived, and many lives (including my own), are stronger in our Faith because of her testimony and character, she was truly an inspiration.
You are and will be in our prayers.
Love ya bro,
Dave Trostle

Doug,
My condolences to you and your family.
With Love

Dear Doug and family,
We would like to express our sincere condolences to you at this time.  Janet was a gifted musician and music teacher who helped our children learn to worship through playing the piano.  We are praying that Jesus will comfort you now and always.

Sincerely,
Stacey and Dukie Irwin and children

I’m so sorry for your loss. I had the privilege to work with Janet on media for a Herald Brass concert as well as meet her and play with her in a concert at Grace Baptist Church. Even in those brief meetings, her heart and passion for ministry were evident. Praying that the Lord’s presence and comfort will be very real for you in the days and weeks ahead.
Blessings,
Jennifer Story

Doug,
My heart is with you in this great loss you are walking through today.
There are no words to express, to give comfort at this time, just know others care and love you and are praying for you. Each day you will feel and experience God’s strength and arms of love around you. All you need is to take one day at a time, somedays just one hour at a time. God is there and when you think you can’t take another step or another breath he will sustain you.
With Love and Much Prayer,
MaryAnn Forry

Dear Doug and Mr. and Mrs. Gehman:
I just learned of Janet’s passing and would like to express my deepest condolences. Janet and I were close throughout high school, in classes and in marching band. She was always a lot of fun and a great friend! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you and your family. God Bless and Peace be with you all.
Sincerely,
Vicki (Hutto) Brill

I am very sorry to hear of your loss . I did not know Janet. However because our last names are the same , on several occasions , when I give a stranger my last name , their response is , "oh are you related to Doug and Janet?" They would proceed to tell me a little bit about you both When I saw the in the paper Janet went to heaven my first thought was all the impact she had on people’s lives, how she knew how to live  and be an inspiration to many people , even people I’ve met . What a legacy……sincerely ,
Denise Enck
