Jane E. O’Neill, 81

Jane E. O’Neill, 81, of 311 Dahlia Rd. in Lancaster, died Thursday at the Essa Flory Hospice Center.

Born in Minersville, Jane was the daughter of the late Frank F. and Julia Rosetta O’Neill.

Attending the Minersville schools, she had graduated from the Branch Twp. School in Llewellyn, and then graduated from the Williamsport Technical Institute, following which she was employed by the Wissahickon Signal Corp. in north Philadelphia. Deciding to attend the Atlantic City School of Nursing, she graduated from Nurse Anesthetist School and worked for 34 years at Lancaster General Hospital, retiring in 1985.

She was of the Catholic faith.

A very musical person, Jane was able to play the piano, banjo and guitar. She also had a great interest in and a love for animals.

She is survived by her cousins: Sarah O’Neill and Frank O’Neill both of Downingtown, Grace Brick of Orwigsburg, Catherine Whalen of Schuykill Haven, and Mae Stutzman of Kaska, PA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jane’s Memorial Mass on Thursday at 10AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 558 W. Walnut St., Lancaster, PA. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Dr., Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125, or to the Humane League of Lancaster County, 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602.
