James H. Kauffman, Sr., 82

James H. Kauffman, Sr., 82 , of Shrewsbury, passed away on October 22, 2007 at the Barbara J. Egan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Benjamin A. and Eva Frey Kauffman. He was the husband of the late Margaret A. ( Flasser ) Kauffman and the late Esther ( Miller ) Kauffman.

Mr. Kauffman was employed at Bendix and Voith Hydro for 5 years. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, where he was awarded the Victory Medal, the European Theater Ribbon, Pacific Theater Ribbon and the American theater Ribbon. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dallastown.

Surviving are his children: two sons, James H. Kauffman Jr. of Baltimore, MD, Robert S., married to Bonnie Kauffman of Wesminster MD. and one daughter Nancy J. married to Terry Sherman of Glendale AZ., two grandchildren, Steven Kauffman of Westminster and Jenna Lee Sherman of Glendale AZ. One step son, Bradley Miller of Dover, and one brother Joseph Kauffman of Roherstown.

A viewing will be held on Friday, October 26^th, 2007 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home Inc. 414 East King Street, Lancaster PA. 17602 (717) 393-9661 from 12 – 1PM. Graveside services will be held at 1:30PM in St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in James’s memory to the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way Lancaster, PA. 17603. The family would like to thank friends and  caregivers from the Lutheran Retirement Village.
