To Jim’s family

I was saddened to see the article in the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette concerning the death of Jim.  Jim played basketball on our South Side teams, and played for me as a sophomore before moving up to the varsity for his junior and senior years.  He had an outstanding jump shot on the court but was an even better person in the classroom and around school.  Anybody who knew Jim could see the quality through and through.

Sincerely
Gary Crawford

Dear Dan, Ryan and Julie,

I was so saddened to learn of Jim’s untimely death from my father earlier this week. I have many fond memories of him from back in the day: at our Giants baseball games, in your home, at school concerts, etc. I still remember the time he came to the rescue when I forgot my helmet for one of the marching band competitions, picked it up from my house, brought it with him and saved my night. He was such a funny, friendly, and all-around great guy to be around. I am so sorry for your loss – my thoughts are with you through this difficult time.

With sincerest condolences,
Sam Sternberg

Dear Tritch Family,
Jim came through the door every day with his brief case, a smile and always had time to ask how my kids were. His professional appearance, love for his family and great personality was a winning combination in our building. You remain in our thoughts and prayers and Jim will remain in our hearts forever. He touched each and everyone of us, it was an honor to know him.

Julie,

We are so so sorry for your loss!  Jim was such a great guy and I have such vivid fun memories of our times together growing up. Jim had a great laugh and was so much fun to be around!  So many people are taken so young.  I am so sorry that we can not get there tomorrow for the funeral but we have a very important doctors appointment for our son Mark (who you may not know has cancer).  Our prayers are with you and your sons.  If we can do anything at all please don’t hesitate to call.

Love
Jeff and Barb Tillman

I heard of Jim’s death via Facebook and I feel an overwhelming sense of sadness right now.  I went all through South Side High School with Jim.  He was in almost all of my classes and I will never forget him as an individual because he always stood out without even trying.  He was kind, funny, a true gentleman (even in high school) and I am sure his family is feeling this terrible loss.  There are many sad friends in Fort Wayne, Indiana right now mourning his death.  Please rest in peace dear Jim.

Julie and sons,
We were so very sorry to hear of the untimely death of your husband.  I notified our daughter, Susan, who lives in Dayton, Ohio. She also was so very  sad to hear the news.  We can’t be there in person, but be assured that we are there in our thoughts and prayers for you and your sons and parents.  Even though God may give us things we can’t understand, He also gives us power and strength to get through the terrible grief and sorrow they bring.  May you be comforted by having your wonderful parents and sons by your side.  You will all be our prayers.

Julie and family,

I was so sorry to hear of the recent loss of your husband and father, Jim. I happened to be attending your parents’ church in Angola that Sunday with my parents (Carroll and Fern Johnson), and the pastor shared the news with the congregation (your parents were not there, as you know).  It has been so nice seeing them periodically over the years, and hearing about you and your family!  Susan (Harris) Hodapp also e-mailed me with the news….she’s good at keeping in touch! I just want you to know that I’m thinking of you, and praying that God is providing peace and comfort to you during this difficult time.
